I'm just curious about the 32x...
While experimenting with the 32X, I noticed some odd things...
The Genesis seems to do a LOT of processing, and the 32X seems to only act as a "3d accelerator", or "accelerator" for a more appropriate term..
I ask this, because when experimenting, I put my Doom 32X cart in my 32x, but had disabled the 32X AFTER the Sega logo, and for crying out loud, while the DOOM logo and the main demo play was missing, I could actually still navigate the on screen-menus.. Only trying to launch a game, would cause a total freeze up..
In knuckles chaotix, the whole background and levels, are rendered on the Genesis, only the HUD and characters are rendered on the 32X (in the sound test screen, it's the opposite.. the textered background is the 32x, while the foreground is the Genesis..)
So, what processing does the 32X do, minus the graphic work? And if the 32X does produce a better sound channel, how is it entering the genesis if the cartridge pinout has no audio pin? (on a Genesis model 1's headphone port, you do hear all the audio, including clearer DAC sounds.. but how is it getting there?)
