So I bought one of those systems called an Xbox 360
Ordered on eBay and I bought a linksys gaming router to save money. I'm probably going to get Gears 2, SF4, and Left 4 Dead. See you guys on LIVE!

Yay. There's plenty of fun retro-ish stuff on XBLA. I really enjoy the DL games on the 360.
Hmm. I need to take another look at our Gamertag and PSN ID thread and add some folks. It's been a while ....

I'm definitely interested in Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun remake (if and when it comes out). How much points is Ikaruga and how do points translate into dollars?RadarScope1 wrote:Yay. There's plenty of fun retro-ish stuff on XBLA. I really enjoy the DL games on the 360.

Which hardware revision is it?
If it is an earlier model, I highly recommend putting it upright and not putting it on a shelf that is a heat conductor (ie: glass). I never used one of those system coolers but a friend has one with his Day 1 launch unit and hasn't had a problem.
I'd just hate to see you disappointed if it overheats and dies, because systems from eBay are likely out of warranty. I went through 4 of the bastards before getting a PS3...

Ikaruga is 800 MS Points. I don't know the conversion. I'm not American. You should be able to work it out though given the set price for 2000.
DON'T get an external cooling unit, especially not the ones that either draw power from the USB or act as a pass-through for the power connector. A lot of people have had problems with them either burning the 360s out faster or just killing the unit due to too much power usage.
If it's a new one with a HDMI port you will have better luck with hardware failures. The Falcon motherboards put out far less heat than the old ones. The latest ones called Jasper are even cooler thanks to the die shrink on the CPU AND GPU.
Here's a thread about the Jaspers http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 26&t=10088
Personally, I've had my 360 since launch in the UK and I've never had it crap out on me and I use it most days for a good few hours. It's well ventilated and stood vertically though, so that might be why.

Hmmm.... I've always heard to keep the unit horizontal. The air vents are on the right side, which becomes the bottom if you stand it up right, so I would think it wouldn't get as much ventilation. And over-heating is what causes the problems right? Regardless, if you have a newer 360 it shouldn't be a big deal.
Ikaruga is 800 points which is $10 USD. MS points work out to 400 points = $5. Most games are 400 and 800 points, which means most games are $5 and $10. Some of the newer and more premium games are creeping into the $15/1200 range. You might be interested in the R-Types Dimensions re-make of R-Type 1 and 2, with some cool effects and modes.
