Explain This

Post by RCBH928 »

Hello
My friend just bought a new xbox arcade because ours got the RROD
Any how it was an NTSC one...
So my other friend bring some pal games, and guess what, THEY WORKED!

how can this be possible, as far as we know no modification is on the system as my friend bought it new out of the store and didn't pay for any modifications. If you think that we bought a PAL system by mistake, then how can it run NTSC games to?

can it be firmware flaw? It doesn't run the latest XBOX experience, it runs on the older gray slides, that is the firmware it came with and we did not update it

You know I had forgotten that devs could choose to region lock. I know it irked some shmup fans who wanted to play JP games in the US. I don't know why those kinds of games would be locked. They're so niche. You're guaranteed to get a small but reliable chunk of gamers who would import into the US.
