In tonight's TGS keynote Ken Kutaragi had a brief Q&A session in which he answered several questions... the most important answers being:
Ken has confirmed all PS3 units will have HDMI, even the 20 gig version.
AND
The 20 gig JP release of the PS3 will now retail for 49,000 yen as opposed to the original 59.800 yen price-point. What's that mean? The 20 gig version is now $430.00, $80 less than originally announced.
Sony at TGS. 20 gig - cheaper, better.

So... yeah, it will be available this year stateside.
I saw that. Really confused me. How come just 2 weeks ago, developers told us they still haven't even seen a finished PS3? Something is wrong here...

And if it's retail units... I have NO clue as to how they could get so many out so fast...
Yeah, I mean the retail consumer PS3's. We saw reports from developers talking about how they were basically coding in the dark. They were coding on devkits well enough, but it was anybody's guess how well the games would run on the real thing.
