It's just that I didn't recall much Halo talk.
But then, out of curiosity, I did a forum search and found 61 pages of Halo references...
There aren't going to be a lot of old gems in the microsoft section. just sayin...
this conversation got me thinking about what xbox games will one day be considered "classics".... I wanted to see what yall think will be on the list one day. I had a hard time coming up with games that didnt include games that were re-released from older systems and games that didnt release on the other consoles too. Heres what I got.
Halo series (obviously)
Forza Motorsports
Prince of Persia series
Fable
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
Panzer Dragoon Orta
Gears of War
orignal xbox arcade games (geometry wars, braid, etc)
i think panzer dragoon orta will be one of those super duper rare items in the future
but classics I really think fable, gears of war are going to be there
classics are usually successful games that are exclusives to one system usually
am not sure about halo though....there is too many fps for halo to be classic, but i guess halo 1 will forever remembered to be one of the games that changed the industry...so yes
Bundled with the system, and was one of the first games many were exposed to for the Xbox. It kept up the insanely fun aspects of Jet Grind Radio while improving graphics and gameplay. Additionally, it was alot of fun!
Consoles Owned:Nintendo SNES, Nintendo GameBoy Color, Nintendo GBA, Sony PSX, PS2, PS3, Sega Master, Microsoft XBox
Xbox had a lot of great games, probably more than people realize. That said, I can't really point to anything as unique as something like Shadow of the Colossus on PS2. I guess Halo, but it seems like that has been bested a couple times now by other first person shooters. Psychonauts was great, but came out on other consoles. I haven't played, but hear Phantom Dust is incredible.
Some of the exclusives will be -- like Orta & JSRF
But I'll say that racing games and FPSs have to be super good/special to be "classics" when newer one can knock their socks off.
Exactly. FPS usually lack personality. I did like Dues Ex: Invisible War now that I think of it, but didn't that come out on PS2 as well?
I was actually really disappointed with the simplification of Jet Set for the Xbox, but I loved the look of it. Orta I have to give another chance. It always seems to me like anything Sega does post-Dreamcast is a halfhearted effort...
^^^ DX:IW (Xbox & PC only) will never be considered a classic as it totally pissed all over the legacy of the original Deus Ex, which really is a classic...
