Going back and rereading what I wrote, yeah I did come off as being a jerk (protip: I'm a jerk). I apologize for having such an abrasive tone.
On a very technical level you could say Inafune was involved with X5, considering he did at least tell the team to make it the final game. So you were actually kind of correct. Unfortunately his influence wasn't anything near the influence he had with prior games in the series though, as Flake did a good job of pointing out.
Ok, we're cool then .
Well I still enjoyed X5, unlike the next 3, so it wasn't a total failure in my book.

Obviously SPOILERS for anyone who hasn't played but in the beginning of the game you are trying to acquire the equipment necessary to destroy the Eurasia space colony that is being dropped on Earth. How that turns out will determine if Zero is alive or dead at the end of the game or if X goes Maverick. It is totally random. Collecting the devices will trigger the cutscenes but has absolutely no impact on the outcome. So it is possible to focus on developing Zero and then lose him at the end of the game leaving you with only an X with minimum stats. It was totally stupid.
oh dear...oh god xD

Yeah, the Enigma failing isn't a big deal; that's more of a bonus and a way to screw with speed runners. But the random "I guess Zero dies" thing is utter bullshit.

Are all the Sigma stages as crappy as Sigma 1? Fuck that wall climbing section. I couldn't find a good way to get through it other than spamming the chameleon sting charge shot for invincibility.

That's how I always did it, though I can get through on a single invincibility. As I recall the other stages aren't as bad in terms of stage hazards.

Completed the first game after a few tries. It pays to be slow in the end with the final form.
When you complete games in Mega Man X Collection, it unlocks a few sections of a special gallery feature (20 in all). For clearing this particular game, the 3 unlocked sections included original conceptual artwork for many of the enemies from the first game, a staff credits roll for the compilation, as well as exactly how to get the special Hadouken move -
I hope to see more of these as I continue to move through.

I dunno. It never seemed gamebreaking to me. I rarely used it considering the full life requirement (yeah you can subtank but it's another thing to remember in a heated conflict every time you get hit) and the fact that it was pretty slow to use and pretty slow to connect.
Must just be me though...
"Farewell, good hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world."
It's obviously not worth using on the trash mobs, but on the bosses that's another story. Watch a speed run of the game; a combination of Sting Chameleon to blitz through concentrations of enemies and instant killing bosses is how Sigma stages goes.

Played a bit just now. The names in the Japanese version are completely different (Icy Penguino!).
Took me a couple of tries to get the game to boot up. When I finally saw the hacker code type intro screen I thought I was playing some sort of weird bootleg. I think whenever I'd played it before on an emulator I must have been repeatedly pressing start at the beginning to skip the intro so never saw that before, unless it's not in the US version?
