I know I'm in Bizarro World when classics like Spider-Man and Batman are being bashed while Punisher movies are being praised

BurningDoom wrote: Yes. Spider-Man is awful. The movie is so cheesy, but isn't meant to be. It's like watching a fan made film on a really strict budget. I'm not complaining, just stating the obvious.

I'm a huge fan of the genre, but dude, seriously: You liked THE GREEN LANTERN, which is easily the worst movie of the year. And I'm not talking about Hollywood releases, I'm including indie films as well. It's hard to take anything you post seriously after stating that it was a good movie. I'd rather watch the Oprah interview with that woman who had her face eaten off by an ape than watch GL again. I'm also pretty sure you liked Marvel Presents X-Men:Wolverine Origins and His Past Stories Including Wolverine Wearing Boxing Gloves, so as I stated before, not complaining, I just think you'll like whatever you like just because some of your childhood make believe heroes are in the films.

Sure you're entitled to your opinion, as I like some goofy shit as well, but you like, honesty like these films. Not for how bad they are, you actually like them.

Maybe you and I should just stick to talking about video games, because in all honesty, I can't see we could see eye to eye on movies. Maybe we can both agree that SPAWN was terrible?
Yep, incredibly high standards, I was right. Superhero movies aren't supposed to be Gone With the Wind. They're superhero movies. They're made from magazines that cost $3-$5 a piece and features guys in tights and masks having fistfights.

Seriously, you didn't like Batman? How could you not like that movie? Jack Nicholson alone made that film fantastic, then you add Tim Burton's dark 30s atmosphere and look to the movie, and Danny Elfman's fantastic soundtrack and you have a helluva movie. The one and only complaint I had about that movie is how stiff Batman's head looked because his cowl wouldn't allow him to turn his head.

I never said Green Lantern was incredible or anything. I said it was good, but had room for improvement and felt like an opener for a new franchise. Which is basically the response a lot of other GL fans had. Admittedly, I am a bit biased though, since Green Lantern has been my favorite comics since like 1992.

And Spawn was good. Not a classic like Batman or Blade; but it was a fun, senseless, action movie which is all it set out to do.

Also, what was wrong with Wolverine: Origins? You didn't enjoy finally finding out Wolverine's origin after 30 years of being in the dark? Again, I question your fandom of comics if that couldn't tickle your fancy.

Heh, well I'm just dogging on Spider-man but I still love the old Batman movies, even Returns probably which I need to rewatch someday. Plus, you just can't beat Danny Elfman's score to it... damn good stuff.

But yeah everyone get drunk this weekend and watch Punisher War Zone.

If Batman is considered low-standards, then I count me in as having low standards. Because that was comic book movie gold as far as I'm concerned.

Where was X-Men Origins mentioned?

But nonetheless, it was awesome. And I can't be the only one that feels that way, because it's #2 on the DVD charts. #1 it's debut week.

I don't have incredibly high standards, I just don't like movies that 10 years after their release look like garbage. And you didn't say you loved GL, you said it was good. It's not. It's tripe. And I'm glad superhero movies aren't like Gone With the Wind, as that movie puts me to sleep. However, I do expect an actual movie with character development, exposition, acts, and most of all a decent plot. Spider-Man has these, it just doesn't do it well.

Where did I ever say I didn't like Batman? Nowhere, that's where. I could probably recite the opening credits line for line I've seen it so many times. It remains my favorite Batman film, and I still watch the VHS version with the Coke Lite commercial, and the Daffy/Bugs WB exchange ("you can't watch a warner brothers movie without wearing a warner brothers ball cap").

What was wrong with Origins? Where to start? Even the title was rushed. "Wolverine" would have been fine. I already know Logan's origin from the comics, and I like that origin much better than the one on film. No bone claws please.

The boxing scene is one of the stupidest things I've seen on film, and the rest of the film looks like it was directed by an Ed Wood want to be, but without the charm. The SE were awful for what's available (again, rushed) and the wire work is more than obvious. And my oh my, why didn't they use anything from Wolvie's comic past? It's just a showcase of stupidity and mutants. A better movie would have focused on Patch if ya ask me.

You guys know which Batman movie you all love?

Also, I really need to watch Punisher War Zone, because that's so bad it's good.

Funny enough, I notice Iron Man has been left out. I thought it was an excellent film, which surpassed most other comic book movies I've watched. Is it over the top at times? Sure, but that's what we liked about it.
