Man, I've picked up two 5 ¼ drives for something I wanted to do, only to have both of them fail to read disks after about 10 minutes of use despite being carefully cleaned. They were both the cool 3 ½ and 5 ¼ in one unit combo drive too.

Hmm, maybe they just need to be re-magnetized?
I do know that some floppy drive heads and can loose their ability to read after a few years due to a loss of their magnetic properties.

Well, that would be de-magnetized.
But no, that's not what happened. I was going through a box of discs that weren't originally mine and despite looking clean, they apparently had some grit in them. Both times some lump of crap stuck to the head and made a lovely squeal as it carved a circle in the disc. After recleaning the heads on both drives, they refused to recognize discs again after.

Now that just sucks.
Maybe you should have used your Floppy Drive Head Cleaning Discs?

I think I have a 5.25 floppy drive, and I was actually about to throw that old computer out. I can't even tell you if it works or not, I can't boot that machine up. But if you want it, it's yours for the price of shipping. Send me a PM if interested.
Well, after having Windows 7 for a while, I can say that I like it. The taskbar was annoying at first but I got used to it. Then I figured out you can change it back to the classic style so now I'm even more happy with it!
I like Windows 7 so far. I like the new taskbar, its something different and it works quite well. Other then that, some games ran better for me on Windows 7 then Vista, which is a great thing.

Is there a way to change the start menu back? That scrolling thing sucks.
