Haha, oh no, there is something that ends up being far worse down there.RobertAugustdeMeijer wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 2:16 pmHmm, you mean the fish? I think I killed one? I'm now going through the dungeon!Ack wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 11:54 amI remember that fight. I had a lot of fun with Sekiro, and that battle in particular was a fun one. Just don't go jumping in the castle moat just yet. I doubt you can handle what's down there.RobertAugustdeMeijer wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 10:55 am Sekiro, just beat Genichiro (guy on top of the castle). Really enjoying the open-endedness of encounters!
Also playing Radiant Silvergun, which I think it even harder!

Yeah, the first game is still my favorite too. Enjoy playing with Gillius in the first one. His back attack is a good way to get through some of the boss fights. Lol.

57 hours into Dragon Quest XI (Definitive Edition) & loving it. Beautiful, old school JRPG at its core.
Did a quick FAQ table of contents peak & looks like I'm about 75-80% done with the game before credits roll. Then there's an extensive post game "Act 3" that adds story & plays further into an entire 2D world/game within the game
I recommend this one. Excited to see the DQIII remaster tease posted this week by Square. Some speculating could actually be for 1, 2, & 3 trilogy.

I'm towards the end of Donkey Kong Country and, honestly, I find it very irritating. The difficulty throughout the game has been all over the place. One level will be easy with a lot of barrels to skip through most of the content. Other stages will place enemies every three feet - often right after jumps so your momentum is carrying you towards getting hit.
I have beaten the second game already which I recall really enjoying despite it also being a challenge. I wouldn't mind playing DKC2 again. I'm not sure I'll revisit this one once I'm done with it.

Re: What are you playing?
Personally, the only DKC on the SNES I actually enjoy is DKC3. It was also the only one I bothered to 103%.

I am replaying Army Men: Major Malfunction on Xbox for the last Army Men game in my review series. Pray for me; this game is god awful.

Re: What are you playing?
Remember when I said I bought that QubicGames bundle from Steam? Well, I've been playing a lot of Hole.io and Mob Control, mostly the former. I know they're basically shovelware mobile ports but I actually enjoy these paid versions more than the mobile versions and their nasty habits of being riddled with ads and microtransactions. Hole.io basically feels like a very "we have Katamari Damacy at home" feel, using a similar gameplay loop of approaching items to swallow them to grow your hole (hehe) and then swallow larger items. And unlike the mobile version, the PC (and PS4 and Switch ports) features local multiplayer for up to four players.
I've also been REALLY enjoying Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game and can say that if you're on the fence about getting it, GET IT! STOP READING THIS AND GO GET IT! But in all seriousness it's a hoot! Up to three Klowns and up to seven humans clash on maps inspired by the cult classic, with the former using cotton candy guns to sabotage and/or capture humans, who in turn try to escape via a series of methods. Also, if you've seen the movie, you know how to put a Klown down... until they respawn. Humans can't respawn BUT... there's a machine that, when repaired, can resurrect dead players.
And I recently got the new Robocop game, which rocks, and Scorn, which I've only played once (via Game Pass's cloud streaming) and didn't hate.

Re: What are you playing?
I'm having a great time playing Super Mario 64 DS. There's a lot of changes from the original, but so far, it's a good time.
There's the obvious thing regarding multiple characters. I just unlocked Mario and I'm playing as him, but I know that all of the characters have stars which require me to switch out. I finished the first two stages and I'm on the third (first water stage). The visuals are great to be honest. It caught me by surprise how well it looks for a launch title on the DS from way back in 2004 (20 years...).
One issue I have so far is the run button. On the original, there was one speed which required the joystick going at full tilt and you were able to go slower with a slight push of the stick. Since there isn't an analog stick here, the default speed is a walk and to run, you have to hold down a button, just like the 2D games. Just have to get used to it.

I own too many hoodies jackets hoodies and DS games and I’m not ashamed!

I am enjoying playing through Max Payne, Alan Wake and Emio - The Smiling Man.
I have always loved the original Max Payne, but haven't played though it in years as back in the day I had the Xbox version and later had the PC version. I tried the PS2 version a few years ago and it was pretty awful and having recently acquired an original Xbox again, I bought Max Payne for it and have been enjoying playing through it again. The main reason I am playing it though is because I finally want to play through the sequel.
I had a PS3 rather than a 360, so never experienced Alan Wake. I am finally getting a chance to play it now it's been ported to modern consoles. I am going to get Alan Wake 2 once I beat it. The game's atmosphere and story is gripping and I love the almost Twin Peaks like mood, but the gameplay does get a bit repetitive. There's loads of the sequences that essentially involve you just running from light source to light source (keeps you safe from "monsters" and heals you), trying to get to your next destination, whilst avoiding and defeating monsters. It's not particularly fun if I am honest, but the story does have me hooked.
Emio is great. I saw some complaints about it feeling a little antiquated, since it more or less plays just like the old Famicom Detective Club games. It's fine for me though. It's a visual novel, so I wasn't expecting huge amounts of interaction like some modern ones have.

Re: What are you playing?
I've been spreading my time a little too thin. Playing:
- Finishing Doom 2 (Unity Port)
- Dabbling in new Doom 1 + 2 (latest Kex engine release)
- Emulating several titles in Atari 7800 library
- Waiting to finish Dragon Quest XI when schedule calms a bit. About 75% done.
Did you review Army Men Sarge's War? Always wanted to play that one with the tone supposedly a tad darker. On a bit of an OG XB kick so may pick it up.
