@AppleQueso - I couldn't use a Genesis controller to save my life for fighters; in the SF games on SNES, I could do 360's with that d-pad like a champ, on Genesis, not so much.

I guess it came down to the fact that the SNES crushed the Genesis in overall sales, and developers put more resources behind their SNES ports.

In the US at least, they were pretty much neck and neck until near the end of that generation. I don't think install base had much to do with it.

But most games were Japanese. At least the big ones. In Japan the Super Famicom was king. The Mega Drive was very far behind, in third.

It was by far number one in Europe though. But the console market wasn't big till the Playstation here (specially the PS2)

No, what I have revealed is that I'm aware that CIV was designed without diagonal whipping in mind, and you aren't.

There was even a video posted in this thread and it's very noticiable in the game itself.

Alright that's it. Don't hate on C4 or the SNES.

C4 does have diagonal whipping and most of the levels were in fact designed with this in mind. Not that it's my thing, but check out ANY speed run of C4 and all the jump whipping is diagonal whipping. Not just because it's faster but because it works.

If you walk up to a candle and have to stop, jump, and whip straight then you have no Castlevania skills.

C4 is the best side scrolling Castlevania! And the SNES is teh best system evah!
