I always say the same thing.

An artist, like any other worker, is entitled to the ownership of what he makes. If I write a novel, I own that novel and I can do whatever I want with it.

You are not entitled to tell the rightful owner what he should do with his property or his own work. If he wants to sell his book for a million dollars, that's his choice and only his choice and you aren't entitled to override his rights over it.

It's a simple matter of consent.

TPB is based in Sweden. Sweden is relatively more sovereign than Ukraine, but they have been under a lot of pressure and have indeed acted time and again to try and shut down TPB.. the battle is still ongoing. With all the transgressions of corrupt bankers, lobbyists and rogue traders the issue of piracy seems rather moot because it doesn't affect the everyday Joe the same way those scumbags have done for the past several years, but the powers that be have a lot of clout to set their agenda ahead of other more important matters. Fuck 'em.

As for doing the time, TPB is already a political party in a few countries. Concerning other sites some have taken pre-emptive measures to avoid persecution, whereas others continue to run their sites unabated. Humans are political animals; conflict based on values is part of our nature. Look at Kim Dotcom for instance, he might be a pirate millionaire but it's hard not to root for his "goals" when he tries this angle
