I'm sure they're a fine place. I admit I'm not entirely objective when it comes to Archibald's. I grew up in Northport, just a couple of miles it. If you ever happen to be near the University of Alabama, you should try to give them a shot. Dreamland is substantially more famous, but Archibald's really is better, and has also been nationally recognized.dsheinem wrote: I know they've won numerous national awards, including from chefs, food-related networks, and the like. Not it's not. It's a location by location thing. If 100 barbecue places burn down once, they've each still only burned down once. Also, fires caused by external forces don't really score any "good barbecue" points. Now, if a barbecue place had accidentally started the great Chicago fire, that would count.YoshiEgg25 wrote: Seriously? Of course there were barbeque places. And if there were so many that burned down in one town, then it should have the highest average quality of anywhere.
Basically what I'm saying is you have flawed logic.

I'd say that would be check-mate.

I would like to note, as someone who's had family in the Tuscaloosa/Northport area for 50-some odd years, I have had Archibald's, and it is indeed amazing.Limewater wrote:I'm sure they're a fine place. I know what I like, I know what I don't like. I want them to look as beautiful in the morning as they did when they went to sleep. I like them intelligent and practical. Classy over skanky, but not afraid to be sexy. Well dressed, but not overly self conscious. Confident, yet vulnerable. Doesn't have to enjoy my interests, but at least share a few. And a great mouth is important too.
I knew something was missing from Luke's post. It ALMOST described my perfect woman. Seriously though, he summed up my thoughts rather nicely. That's pretty much my criteria right there. Just need to find this perfect woman

Society...I can be very cynical, and I pay a lot of attention to trends in society, gender roles, media influence, etc. I've had some very pretentious commentary with my equally society-snobbish brother.

You know how I always judged chicks in college? No? Well fine, I'll tell ya (college kids take notes).
Look at what a chick drives in college.
A new car clean as a whistle: high maintenance, but her parents cover all the bills. Good for one nighters, awful for relationships. Probably a poli-sci major who doesn't need to go to college because she obviously already knows everything. Usually a blond who isn't as hot as she thinks she is.
New car, dirty: Not worth a one nighter. She gets everything she wants, and never takes care of anything. Little responsibility in every walk of life. Might have the herps too. Usually a blond or brunette with the freshman 15 thing going on.
Old used car, filthy: Maybe worth one night with. She's had to work for what she's got, but she doesn't take care of it. Not high maintenance, but is also probably the girl who would blame a fart on the dog. She's better than the new clean bmw girl in the long run, but she'll continue to be a slob. Usually a hippy chick or a girl who is going through yet another "I don't give a shit" phase.
Old used car, clean: Bingo! She would like a new car, but she's happy to have what she has and likes to make everything look as good as possible. One day that car will be a bmw, and she won't need your support to buy it. It's an extra bonus if this car has one, and only one, cool sticker on rear window, usually an obscure punk band.
Van: Slut. Watch out.

Hey now, they don't all have cars to drive whether that's because it's a big city college or other reasons. Neither of my college girlfriends had cars and both were awesome. It was school stress and after school distance that broke up both, not any sort of crazy issues on anyone's part.Luke wrote: You know how I always judged chicks in college? No?
