Re-read my posts.
You say, that any rpg out of Japan, And east Asia has not taken an element from final fantasy.(Of course you could argue that jrpg is a genre, rather than where it was made, but that would lose the point if so)
Moby games
Remember when I said Fallout was one of the most important games in the history of RPGs? Well, that is not exactly accurate since Torment is in some ways even more important. Design-wise it is the direct father to games like Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect.
"What do you mean?" First, we have to take into consideration that Torment is a game made by the Fallout 2 team that got inspiration from Final Fantasy 7. And while nowadays there are games like Jade Empire that are pretty much undistinguishable from JRPGs, Torment is the first one to act as a sort of a bridge between these two worlds.
This argument, you and me having is pointless. Because people take inspiration from everything.
http://www.mobygames.com/featured_artic ... ction,218/Edit: I thought I should mention that this argument was started because someone did not believe that inspiration is taken from MANY places.
I read the article, but I fail to see
how any games were inspired by FFVII
mind you, I've yet to play
through Fallout 2, since I'm more of a Fallout 1 kind-of-guy
but since you are in the know, explain to me what inspiration Fallout 2 (and
apparently the rest of the WRPG genre) got from the Final Fantasy games
Jade Empire and Anachronox were the only 2 examples, where there were direct comparisons to JRPG's and while I am a Gothic/early Ultima fan and may not have played through Mass Effect or other current-gen RPG's, I've yet to see
what that inspiration was
Baldur's Gate series (as mentioned) were an inspiration of Goldbox, I dare say that the TES series are a continuation of Dungeon Master (or Abandoned Places), whilst Fallout was inspired by Wastelands (as a matter of fact, Fallout is the
spiritual successor of Wastelands) and Neverwinter Nights continues the same concepts as the Goldbox, whilst I dare say that Temple of Elemental Evil is a
direct continuation of the Goldbox way of combat
Ultima IV (as we all know) was the game to introduce
"morality" (i.e. the 8 different virtues) and Diablo 1, has little-to-nothing to do with JRPG's either (nor RPG's if you ask me, but that's up for discussion)
as mentioned, I may not have played the current-gen RPG's, but I've yet to see
what inspiration Final Fantasy had on the WRPG genre as a whole
and trust me on this one, I am
not asking this to offend you, but rather because I really would like to know
since I've played
most CRPG's up until TESIV (with exceptions of games, which
I didn't find enjoyable, such as KOTOR/Jade Empire)
I've never been a huge fan of JRPG's, but I have played through my fair share
and if you're thinking that the "steam-punk" environment from Final Fantasy VII inspired anything, then I dare say that's far off the scale, as Worlds of Ultima did Steampunk long before Arcanum
the plots in
most of the WRPG's I've played are non-comparable with the plots of the Final Fantasy games I've played, but then again I may be off the chart here
so
with your own words, explain to me how this all comes together
:edit
and
yes Worlds of Ultima was released before Final Fantasy VI as well
and for the love of God
stop with the 3rd grade attempts to insult me
it's getting old
I can read English perfectly fine, thank you and I fail to see what you're getting at
if you really want to bicker about small little things as spelling, or whatever you're getting at, please do it elsewhere, as I have little to no patience in trying to teach today's youth manners and etiquette
