One of the things I love to do in fighting games is use the "BIG SOVIET DAMAGE" character (like Zangief) and just spout out Heavy quotes as I play as him.
"Do I smell soiled baby diapers?"
"Cry some more!"
"You are so small! Is funny to me!"
"I have plan for you: More Pain."

I read the article, but I fail to see how any games were inspired by FFVIIyomomma1 wrote:God I like explaining something to someone who can't understand English.
Re-read my posts.
You say, that any rpg out of Japan, And east Asia has not taken an element from final fantasy.(Of course you could argue that jrpg is a genre, rather than where it was made, but that would lose the point if so)
Moby gamesThis argument, you and me having is pointless. Because people take inspiration from everything.Remember when I said Fallout was one of the most important games in the history of RPGs? Well, that is not exactly accurate since Torment is in some ways even more important. Design-wise it is the direct father to games like Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect.
"What do you mean?" First, we have to take into consideration that Torment is a game made by the Fallout 2 team that got inspiration from Final Fantasy 7. And while nowadays there are games like Jade Empire that are pretty much undistinguishable from JRPGs, Torment is the first one to act as a sort of a bridge between these two worlds.
http://www.mobygames.com/featured_artic ... ction,218/
Edit: I thought I should mention that this argument was started because someone did not believe that inspiration is taken from MANY places.
mind you, I've yet to play through Fallout 2, since I'm more of a Fallout 1 kind-of-guy
but since you are in the know, explain to me what inspiration Fallout 2 (and apparently the rest of the WRPG genre) got from the Final Fantasy games
Jade Empire and Anachronox were the only 2 examples, where there were direct comparisons to JRPG's and while I am a Gothic/early Ultima fan and may not have played through Mass Effect or other current-gen RPG's, I've yet to see what that inspiration was
Baldur's Gate series (as mentioned) were an inspiration of Goldbox, I dare say that the TES series are a continuation of Dungeon Master (or Abandoned Places), whilst Fallout was inspired by Wastelands (as a matter of fact, Fallout is the spiritual successor of Wastelands) and Neverwinter Nights continues the same concepts as the Goldbox, whilst I dare say that Temple of Elemental Evil is a direct continuation of the Goldbox way of combat
Ultima IV (as we all know) was the game to introduce "morality" (i.e. the 8 different virtues) and Diablo 1, has little-to-nothing to do with JRPG's either (nor RPG's if you ask me, but that's up for discussion)
as mentioned, I may not have played the current-gen RPG's, but I've yet to see what inspiration Final Fantasy had on the WRPG genre as a whole
and trust me on this one, I am not asking this to offend you, but rather because I really would like to know
since I've played most CRPG's up until TESIV (with exceptions of games, which I didn't find enjoyable, such as KOTOR/Jade Empire)
I've never been a huge fan of JRPG's, but I have played through my fair share
and if you're thinking that the "steam-punk" environment from Final Fantasy VII inspired anything, then I dare say that's far off the scale, as Worlds of Ultima did Steampunk long before Arcanum
the plots in most of the WRPG's I've played are non-comparable with the plots of the Final Fantasy games I've played, but then again I may be off the chart here
so with your own words, explain to me how this all comes together
:edit
and yes Worlds of Ultima was released before Final Fantasy VI as well
and for the love of God
stop with the 3rd grade attempts to insult me
it's getting old
I can read English perfectly fine, thank you and I fail to see what you're getting at
if you really want to bicker about small little things as spelling, or whatever you're getting at, please do it elsewhere, as I have little to no patience in trying to teach today's youth manners and etiquette

Re: Top 10 First-Person Shooter's
Listen, I will explain again, because you cannot understand. I am not talking about a specific game, you are. Games take elements from everywhere, but you disagree. I never said that final fantasy inspired the wrpg genre as a whole. It was an argument about whether it had inspired ANY. Wiki. "According to lead designer Chris Avellone, Planescape: Torment was inspired by books, comics, and games, including Archie Comics, The Chronicles of Amber, The Elementals, Final Fantasy, and Shadowrun"
See how much media Planescape Torment was inspired by? Games take alot of elements from alot of things, however you seem to disagree.
Hell Final fantasy had alot of inspiration from Pen and paper rpgs. You didn't even read the quote. The games that was inspired by FF was Planescape Torment not fallout 2 (however, Planescape Torment was made by the same core people) that quote from the article was not saying that fallout 2 was inspired by ff, but PLANESCAPE TORMENT was(And was inspired by about everything else)
In NO particular order(I never did this)
Republic Commando
Half-Life 2 Episode One
System shock 2
Rainbow six 3
Call of duty 2
Darkest of days
Metroid prime
Metroid prime 3
Halo 2
Doom 2

Re: Top 10 First-Person Shooter's
These are not in order, but I numbered them in the order they came to my mind:
1) Doom - an obvious choice, yet some of my earliest pc gaming memories are built on this game.
2) Halo 1 and 2 - I lumped these together because I am not sure they hold up well enough to be listed singly. Halo 1 was my favorite of the series in terms of a single player campaign, but I also have great memories of getting together with my friends for intense halo 2 lan parties.
3) Half Life 2 - Simply an amazing FPS, although I still think the story was not as great as people claim.
4) Hexen - As a kid this game always confused the hell out of me, yet I kept on playing the first few areas anyways...
5) Duke Nukem 3d - Duke was at the top of his game with this one. It's a shame we wont ever get "Forever" because at this point I would buy it out of principle if it ever sees the light of day.
6) Unreal - The original is still my favorite... I can't tell you how disappointed I was at that steaming pile of garbage they called Unreal 2.
7) Counter Strike Source - good old fashioned multiplayer fun.
8 ) Goldeneye 007 - During its prime I did not own an N64 or a copy of this game, but it didn't stop me from playing it every chance I got.
9) Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast - Despite the fact that the game basically turned into a 3rd person action game once you got your light-saber, it was a sold addition to the family of starwars FPS's
10) Breakdown - One of those underrated games that should be played.
