You did the right thing. You aren't missing anything by not playing that.prfsnl_gmr wrote:I actually owned a complete copy of Shining the Holy Ark at one point (but, like an idiot, I sold it because I thought I would never play it).

PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: Summer Games Challenge 2015
Aw, man, I really enjoyed Holy Ark. It and Arcana are two of my favorite first-person RPGs.
Anyway, I say just go the emulation route, or modded Saturn. I get what I can when I can, but I don't go crazy buying uber-expensive stuff. I mean, if I did that I'd have to blow $250+ on Panzer Dragoon Saga...

Haha I know! I bought the trilogy on PS3 for $4.80 on a flash sale. GOODBYE SUMMER GAME CHALLENGE!noiseredux wrote:marurun wrote:Thoughts on the summer challenge...
If you don't play the games on your challenge list, you don't get any closer to completing the summer challenge.
Hrm...
Mass Effect Trilogy is $9 on Amazon right now. There's a solid chance that my Summer Gaming Challenge is already over.

I was literally just watching footage of Front Mission: Gun Hazard on YouTube the other night to see where a particular song from the soundtrack fit in ("Remains"). I had never really heard about these games before, and this one looked so freaking fun. And now you're all talking up the series and discussing how great it is.
I really can't justify buying a Retron 5. Not yet. But the scales may start tipping soon...
Do most of you Mass Effect newcomers (or veterans) play on Playstations? I'd hypothetically love to do multiplayer ME3 with the lot of you, but I've only got an XBox 360.

I already have that game. (I have beaten it too, and it is totally worth $250, BTW.)Sarge wrote:I mean, if I did that I'd have to blow $250+ on Panzer Dragoon Saga...

Good on you snagging it back in the day! Me, I've never paid that much for a game. Not sure I ever will, unless inflation goes through the roof, or I become a multi-millionaire.
Gun Hazard is awesome and you should play it, Key! I'm not even a huge mech-game guy, and I thought it was superb. I recently imported a copy, but played through it with the English patch using an SD2SNES.

Gun Hazard is good times. It's not as ball crushingly difficult as Cybernator or Metal Warriors.

I played the first on PC, but never found a good enough deal to grab the rest on PC so I just picked it all up on the PS3 and started from scratch.Key-Glyph wrote:

Ok, ok, I'll give it a go either tonight or tomorrow, no excuses! >:l (thanks for the encouragement)Ack wrote:Personally I absolutely love the first Wild Arms, and I appreciate that it has a radically different setting from most video games. You can do this, champ. I believe in you. Just remember that you're hunting them, not the other way around.laurenhiya21 wrote: And I'm glad I finally beat that but... now the only classic game I can really play is Silent Hill (unless Wild Arms is a classic? I've seen quite a few posts about it but not sure). I'm kind of waffling over it since I do want to play it, but I get kind of nervous since I always get nervous over playing scary/creepy games... Hate how I do that ugh .___.
Also maybe I'll change my list a bit to add Wild Arms in then... I wasn't planning on playing any RPGs for this but if I don't have anything else to play for a month and a half then why not. I haven't played any turn-based RPGs in a while anyway ha.

Re: Summer Games Challenge 2015
Gun Hazard is in my top 3 all time favorite SNES games ever. It sits right next to Super Metroid and A Link To The Past in my book. Yes, the game is that awesome. I will stop now before I gush for paragraphs about its awesomeness. Here's a nice site about it though:Key-Glyph wrote:I was literally just watching footage of Front Mission: Gun Hazard . However, Gun Hazard is not a proper representation of the Front Mission series, as Gun Hazard is a side scrolling action game. True Front Mission games are turn based strategy affairs typically having a bird's eye view of the battlefield. Only Front Mission: Gun Hazard and Front Mission Evolved take the franchise into a real time action arena.
Now I'm not saying to not play Gun Hazard, everyone on this board should play that game (especially in English). But you owe it to yourself to play a proper Front Mission game if you want to know what the series is all about. I think the best Front Mission for a newcomer would be Front Mission 3, as it strikes a nice balance between moderate challenge and less wanzers to keep up with (insofar as load-outs are concerned). Also Front Mission 3 has its own internal internet. Yes, an entire little internet built into the game.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
