Have you tried a dogbone?
No, but now that you mentioned it, I probably should. I guess I hadn't really considered it since i have a toaster, but the dog bone controllers are pretty rare, aren't they? It seems more like the SNES controller design, so that would probably feel a bit more comfortable. If the d-pad is more like the original NES d-pad, I'd probably still chew up my thumb on it, though.

Prices on Ebay seem a little steep. Maybe my semi-local retro shop has one.
Not really rare, just expensive. Ive not bought one for the same reason.

sigh.....well I started Zelda Link to the Past (which I keep calling Link's Awakening for some reason :S :S :S :S :S).

The good: The overworld. This is my favorite style of Zelda overworld. One which itself is a huge playground/dungeon. So much stuff to discover and see, a great gaming world. Link's Awakening also had this type of overworld, and seeing how it's my second favorite zelda after windwaker, it makes sense that I would like this aspect of Link to the Past too.

The average: Dungeons are a bit short and easy. No real brain strainers here.

The bad: Saving system. As a person who is super busy these days, having to walk all the way back to the dungeon is super annoying. Why can't I save at the entrance of the dungeon? Why must I start from Link's house or the church? (I'm sorry, "sanctuary". Let's not offend any Christians by having a church in a game. I don't think they would be, but I guess Nintendo thinks otherwise).

3. Adventures of Batman and Robin (SNES)
4. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (PC) Finished 6/29
5. Wonder Boy in Monster World (Gen)

7. Streets of Rage (Gen) Finished 6/16
8. Streets of Rage 2(Gen)
9. God of War (PS3 HD) In Process 4hrs

Not Classics that I want to beat before summer ends
10. Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions (PS3)

Today was rough, so I needed some escape time. The family went to Target and I decided to play through the rest of FOA. I was surprised on how large the maze was; backtracking through that was a pain. I think I got the good ending and am glad I finally took the time to finish this game that I bought originally when it was released.

Beat Halo 4 tonight - pretty good game, though not my favorite in the series. I played solo on Legendary (as usual) and found the game to be much easier than previous Halo games. The story is really neat and the graphics are great, but the end was a bit disappointing as far as the final battle goes. Still, a decent entry in the series. Now to finish Silent Hill 2 and Chrono Trigger!

Pretty much my thoughts on Halo 4 as well. Definitely worth playing, though.

(though not for the Summer Game Challenge!)

Been away for a while, so not made much progress on this lately, but I sat down with Prime 3 again tonight and powered through a bit more again. I took out a major boss on the pirate homeworld and got the Grapple Voltage and Spider Ball items, along with a whole bunch of missile upgrades. Gotta grab a hazard suit next time I play and then I think i'm pretty much set to blast through unless there are any surprises. The only other item I've seen that I need is another beam weapon, which will probably come from the pirate homeworld boss if previous planets are anything to go by.

Playing Silent Hill 2 (about six hours in) and wow...Konami really shit the bed with the camera. That thing is BAD. It actually detracts from the game experience, in my opinion. I sure hope they fixed it when they released the HD collection for PS3. I also have complaints about the insane amount of fog they put in when wandering about town - I can't see a damn thing half the time. Even worse, it usually has a reddish tint, so visibility is sometimes down to around 10%. I really like the game's atmosphere and overall creepiness, but the camera and fog really do brutalize the experience.

Just dealt with the typical Metroid Prime end-game crap - find all these things for no reason other than to extend the game another couple of hours. It feels like Retro feel they should be making you backtrack more because it's Metroid so they throw in a stupid treasure hunt/fetch quest thing in the 11th hour. They did it in Prime 1 (and there it was made especially aggravating by the stupid Chozo Ghost enemies that locked the rooms whenever they appeared, appeared often and took ages to kill), they did it in Prime 2 (where it wasn't as bad, but the light/dark mechanic convoluted things) and now they've done it again in Prime 3 (stripped back a bit, but still obnoxious, and yet again with the habit of sticking stupid enemies in old areas just to annoy you). Speaking of those annoying enemies, the offenders this time are an energy ball thing that appears in every room on the planet bryyo now for no reason, requires ages in hypermode to kill and appears in clusters of 2 or 3 - it's stupidly broken, as killing them will always drain me of almost a whole energy tank, but running past them costs me a few HP at most

That said, I have been enjoying the game well enough, just like the previous ones. I just don't like how Retro destroys the pacing of the games with this crap all the time.
