Most of those are on the easier side, but Prince of Persia is very tough. That would absolutely fit.laurenhiya21 wrote:While thinking of potential games for this, I've looked at what I have currently have on my Summer Games list, and I realized that I actually have no clue what the difficulty is for a many of them haha. Good thing I'm not the one judging what is or isn't difficult because I wouldn't be able to do this in the first place
So are any of these difficult at all? I have a feeling that they aren't (except maybe Prince of Persia?), but at the same time I'm really not sure.
Donkey Kong Country (SNES)
Prince of Persia (SNES)
Super Metroid (SNES)
Yoshi’s Island (SNES)
I would love to join this as I said, but July won't work for me. Maybe I'll make a late submission after the summer and have a September challenge or something. Summer is already the time I have least gaming opportunities, and the summer challenge will eat all of it for me.

Actually, I'd argue that DKC can get pretty challenging at times. I played through not terribly long ago, and there are definitely some Battletoads-like tendencies in a few spots. Those are mitigated by the reduced penalties for dying, though.
Yoshi's Island is on the edge for me. Those bonus stages are no joke, but I think you have to 100% all the stages to unlock them. I... might have done that back in the day.
Jmustang, I don't know about the Robocop/Terminator game, since I never played it, but I'll throw my stamp of approval on all the others.

I don't think Yoshi's Island is hard, per say, though it is certainly annoying listening to Baby Mario scream constantly. I'm not a fan of it.
DKC...it has tough moments, but I don't think overall it's that difficult. Pretty much anything not involving a mine cart isn't too bad.

Sure the bonus stages are hard, but those are entirely optional.Sarge wrote:Actually, I'd argue that DKC can get pretty challenging at times. DKCs challenge is entirely mitigated by the 8 or so extra lives obtainable in 1 minute by running through the first level again. I actually think Yoshi's Island is the harder of the two overall though.
Both games have their challenging moments, but they're no Ninja Gaiden or Ghosts n Goblins or Ecco the Dolphin.
Ecco is still my vote for the hardest games I've finished btw, harder than 6-2 of ninja garden or taking down Tyson in punch-out!
Re: July Jabberwocky Challenge (conceptual stage)
I think one of the challenges we're going to have is that everyone here has different skill levels. I think Exhuminator had expressed a desire to try to factor that in. I don't know what the hardest thing is that laurenhiya has beaten, so I should probably wait until we get a little more organized before throwing out my opinions willy-nilly.
And I'm definitely not saying it's like super ridiculously hard. I'm just saying that it's probably an average-to-above-average challenge, depending on the player.

I found some of the later levels of Yoshi's Island pretty challenging, and never managed to beat the game. My wife tore through it, though.

I can't disagree. Heck, that final boss fight can be pretty tricky, I remember dying on it quite a bit back in the day.marurun wrote:I found some of the later levels of Yoshi's Island pretty challenging, and never managed to beat the game. My wife tore through it, though.

I haven't either, but I also haven't genuinely tried. I don't like the game enough to give it a serious attempt.marurun wrote:I found some of the later levels of Yoshi's Island pretty challenging, and never managed to beat the game. My wife tore through it, though.

The judges must beat Dark Seed, Iron Storm, and Weaponlord.Sarge wrote:I think one of the challenges we're going to have is that everyone here has different skill levels.
