Re: Titanfall
I just played this (and Xbox One) for the first time with my brother-in-law. It seems like it could be a lot of fun, but there's so much going on, it's hard to keep track. The lack off split screen is a bummer, too. We've been taking turns playing rounds and winding up at the bottom of the leaderboards. Anyone have tips for a newbie?

Play hardpoint and defend one of your points, don't worry about running around and attacking, just defend the point. You will get XP for defending while learning to mechanics.Duane Dibbley wrote:I just played this (and Xbox One) for the first time with my brother-in-law. I also found putting my Titan in guard mode at an entrance, while I was defending was a good way to know if pilots where coming for the point.

I knew the 360 version was going to be decent. Bluepoint knows what they are doing. To be fair, it's obvious the 360 could handle the game just fine with some reduction in visuals. This kind of shit happens all the time on the PC with variances in visual fidelity to accommodate different systems. Microsoft obviously wanted people to forget that the 360 version existed in order to move some Xbox One consoles.Pulsar_t wrote:http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digit ... e-analysis
Regardless, the game is fun and I might even Redbox the 360 version to see how it compares myself.

Well there's no reason to drop money on an Xbox One anymore.
(Unless you get some university to write a grant for one, that is.

Still having fun with this and should get to Gen 4 over the weekend. I haven't played it as much the last couple of weeks playing other games but my god I can't believe how high some people have ranked up.
I don't mind the Gen challenges to level up, but I DO mind that your past statistics with challenge weapons don't count and you have to start over to complete everything. Like, I've used the SMG quite a bit leading up to Gen 3. I shouldn't have to kill 75 total pilots and 200 total enemies between Gen 3 and 4, I should already be close to that. Also, eff the plasma rail gun. Worst....weapon....ever.

Re: Titanfall
posted about it in the beaten thread, but downloaded the free weekend demo, and spent 3 hrs with it today and really really think this game is crazy good. Pretty sure I'm gonna plunk down the $30 to own it. Shocker. I was interested in this at release, and relegated it to "when it goes on sale" status, but then releases of Dark Souls II and Wolfenstein New Order had eclipsed it in my interest... so glad they did the free weekend.

Re: Titanfall
Glad you like it. I've been beating this game's drum lately simply because I'm sure it sold well but I actually think it's underrated. It's the most innovative multiplayer shooter to come along in a long time IMO. The titans obviously mix it up, but more importantly the verticality with the "double jump" make it unique. Also, unlike every other shooter I've played, there's not maps I don't want to play in this game including the DLC. Maybe just personal opinion but I think the variety of gameplay has a lot to do with it. It's not like most shooters either where everyone goes to their favorite spots every match. Each match is dynamic. I took a month or two off of it but a friend of mine just bought it and my interested has been reinvigorated.noiseredux wrote:posted about it in the beaten thread, but downloaded the free weekend demo, and spent 3 hrs with it today and really really think this game is crazy good. Re: Titanfall
I have not really touched it since the DLC, handled so poorly when you buy DLC and struggle to get a game on those maps.
