End-Gen Games: To Buy or Not To Buy

Well, aside from the titles already listed, Microsoft stated that they plan on supporting the 360 well into 2016, so this is just the tip of the iceberg as far as the Xbox goes. If Sony takes their usual stance on supporting their old hardware, we could see PS3 titles released well into 2025

The PS3 has alot of potential left in it imo, they dont need to make every game look cutting edge to the point of my eyes bleeding out.

Completely agree - in my opinion, the PS3 was just hitting its stride when the PS4 was announced. We have plenty of potentially amazing games left to enjoy as far as the PS3 goes

I noticed that the new Castlevania is slated for PS3/360 and not PS4/XB1. I thought this was pretty curious given the high-profile IP. Makes me really interested in how this new gen will work as games aren't necessarily overlapping.

I wouldn't buy 360 or PS3 games unless Microsoft and Sony allows backwards compatibility.

I just can't imagine an Xbox 360 still functioning in 2020 without breaking down. They aren't as study and strong as older consoles.

Well, we can agree to disagree - I've had mine since 2010 and have played over 100 games on it and have never had an issue. My original Xbox from 2002 also still works perfectly, so Microsoft has lived up to its end of the bargain as far as I'm concerned. I'll continue to buy games for my 360 as long as they're released.

There are still many PS3 and Xbox 360 games I'm looking forward to... Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster, The Witch and the Hundred Knight, Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, Lightning Returns, Dark Souls II... Still plenty of steam left in the 7th gen.

As far as Japanese devs go, there seems to be plenty of PS3 support lately and into the near future. Western made games will probably all be focused on PS4/XB1 from now on though.

No kidding. A lot of good looking titles for the PS3 have yet to be released. And there's not the biggest market for these Japanese developed games over here, so I can bet if they turn out to be quality work, you'll see them as being "collector's items," due to limited runs. Persona 5, Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z, and even the FFX remasters to name a few. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if South Park's Stick of Truth accrued ridiculous value. That cartoon's got a bit of a cult following over here.
