I highly agree. IMO there are few TurboChip/HuCard games worth playing compared to the CD library. I had a TG16 and sure I enjoyed it but not as much as I did when I got a Duo a year or so later.Breetai wrote:If you ignore the CDs, you'd REALLY be missing out. There are more CD games on the PCE than HuCard games. The majority of the higher rated games on it are on the CD format.Icedawg wrote:
Unsure I only have a desire to play the PCE games otherwise I would have just picked up a TG16. I hear how good CD is, and everyone tells me how great some of the stuff is... but mostly I prefer cartridges if at all possible, just don't like CDs

maybe 1 day I'll grab the CD add ons and everything, but like I've said before I'm much more into grabbing the Hucards for now. Especially after getting the core grafx in the mail with how compact it is...I don't want anything taking up to much space

Get your Geiger counter ready. That thing is coming from EAST Japan. That might be Tokyo, it might be Aomori, it might be Sendai, it might be Fukushima...retrosportsgamer wrote:Picked up my multi tap finally. Good price too -

Seriously though, $5 is good. $10 would be fair I think, so you could not have done better unless you were in Japan.

Dumb aside, but can someone fill me in on why this is often touted as the best system for shmups?

If you look at the 16-bit consoles, compare the shoot 'em up lists between them. The SNES is easily the worst. The Genesis/MD is not bad, but the PCE tops them out in both quantity and quality (look at the titles). The presence of the Soldier series really helps out, as does Gate of Thunder and Winds of Thunder. A lot (not all) of the shoot 'em ups that are on two or more of the 16-bit systems are better on the PCE, due to larger and more colourful sprites.pakopako wrote:Dumb aside, but can someone fill me in on why this is often touted as the best system for shmups?
I don't know if I can say it is the BEST, but it is one of them.
