The fact that it will become this long lost game was just too irresistible. I mean there are rare games that go for a lot of cash on ebay despite being mediocre. There's an allure to the unattainable. I figured since this was originally an Xbox Live Summer of Arcade title I went for that version as it felt more authentic somehow. I don't expect that to make sense to anyone lol

Now that I've played it a bit, I'm a bit surprised. It's not so bad. It doesn't match the awesomeness of Castle Crashers or the Dishwasher Vampire Smiles game I recently started playing, but it's decent. I thought the diagonal attacks would make it too easy, but I think it actually just balances out the original arcade version's difficulty. Had they based this off the SNES version though, it would have made an already easy game laughably simple. It also occurred to me that with the new 3d graphics, keeping the attacks in a 2d plane may not have complemented the game's new look

I researched the Mutant Nightmare port on the net and it turns out that version also didn't have the original score. So I suppose I shouldn't hate on the remake's lack of the original soundtrack so much as it seems that legally it just may not be possible to get the original score. That said, they could have given us something better than what's actually in the game and I'm surprised something like this would even get the green light when you knew you couldn't have the original soundtrack. I guess it's all about the money though. However, the updated graphics help ease the blow a bit. The game looks gorgeous and there are cool visual flourishes like the first boss jumping into the foreground of the screen when he switches guns. The game certainly maintains the personality of the original despite the visual makeover

As noise pointed out, having between level saves and a stage select is nice and convenient. A lot of folks wouldn't even have bothered to include that in a game of this nature. Plus, the survival mode is there for those who want the pure experience

I guess overall it's not such a bad game and I'm actually grateful to noise for creating this thread which actually led to me downloading and trying it. I might have missed out on ever giving the game a chance otherwise. So if you read this, thanks noise :)

awesome! Exactly why I started the thread. I was hoping some of us (me included) might find a great game that we could have missed out on if we waited too long.
