The more I play the more I agree with this.

And even though the characters don't get a lot of focus due to the sheer number of them, I'm still growing to love a lot of them.

You honestly don't need to know much at all about football to succeed at Madden.

Passing plays will be your ticket to victory.

Madden I'm genuinely nervous about because I know so little about football and wouldn't have a clue how to start in a video game about it.
When you say you know little about football, do you mean that you do not know the rules of football or good strategy/plays for football?

I don't know anything about football-based video games. I understand the rules of football, as I watch it. But picking a strategy, playing it out, how to switch between players I need, when to go with a particular kind of play...all of that escapes me. I have no concept of the strategy of football.

1. Hotel Dusk Room: Room 215 (DS)
2. Ecco the Dolphin (GBA port)
3. Wario Land 3 (GBC)
4. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (GC)
5. Shining Force II (GEN)
6. Nectaris: Military Madness (PS1)
7. Return Fire (PS1 port)
8. Guardian Heroes (SS)
9. Galactic Attack (SS)
10. Decathlete (SS)

Two down, eight to go!

At first, I did not like Wario Land 3 as much as Wario Land II. Wario does not start the game with all of his "abilities" from Wario Land II, and it gave me that feeling you get when you play one Metroid game right after another. ("What did Samus do with all of her power ups? Throw them out?") After a while, however, the game started to remind me of Metroid in a different, better way.

The goal of the game it to obtain the four treasures hidden in each stage. To obtain a treasure, Wario must first find the key to the treasure chest and then locate the treasure chest itself. Once Wario obtains one treasure, he has cleared the stage and may proceed to the next. As he progresses through the game, however, certain treasures grant Wario new abilities while others cause things to happen in stages he has already visited. The changes open up new areas, and the new abilities - in addition to allowing Wario to bypass certain sections - also allow him to access new areas. Accordingly, the game's baktracking and exploration are very reminiscent of the backtracking and exploration required in classic Metroid games.

Moreover - and as in Wario Land II - Wario is completely invincible in this game. Normally, invincibility makes a game too easy, but Nintendo wisely decided to use Wario's invincibility to make the game more challenging. Obtaining all 100 treasures is a true challenge, and some of the platforming requires a lot of precision. Finally, the games puzzles are, at times, genuinely challenging, but they are never frustrating.

In short, I am very glad that I played through this classic, and I now consider it one of the very best games in my GB/GBC collection.

More Chrono Cross talk:

First of all, Leah is freaking adorable.

I love the way she "marches" when she walks, I love how the axe she carries is bigger than her, and I love how she twirls said axe before burying it in some unfortunate enemy's skull.

Second, progress report!

I've beaten the six dragons, acquired the Mastermune (which does so much damage it makes me giddy) and Serge is back in action!

27 hours in. I'm really gonna miss this game when its over.

I'm not sure of your exact progress, but you should still have about the best part of the entire game ahead of you.

Also, yes. The Mastermune is awesome, but it unfortunately doesn't carry over to new game+. If you're thinking of going into NG+ at all, I'd recommend making a Rainbow Swallow. And, yeah Leah is pretty cute, but no one beats Harley.

Off for 4 days, so Chrono Trigger, here I come! I've been kinda jumping around on my list (Dark Souls might have another four hours left) but I didn't want to chop up the time with the RPGs because I want the full story/experience in one go.

This brings back good memories. I played through Chrono Cross shortly after it was released and really, really enjoyed it. It is a very under-rated PS1 RPG, and I think people would have enjoyed it more if it did not have "Chrono" in its title.

Also, my wife and children will be heading to the beach for a few days without me next week (I have to work :( ), but I plan on powering through some of the games on my list when I am not in the office (and then heading to the beach as soon as I can so that they don't have too much fun without me!).

So randomly turned on Contra for a round on the first continue, and made it to the last level for the first time (I assume there are only 6 levels like Contra 3?). Game is coming along quite nicely considering I barely put any time into it.

KOTOR is really kicking my butt. I only play for an hour or so a couple days a week, and the last time I played I spent at least an hour trying to win all the swoop races. I have to maybe get a guide to learn what is optional and what is not... I'm trying to do this without a guide but at this pace it may take all summer.
