Perhaps the initial release all game with the 2nd disc soundtrack? Did the Greatest Hits version remove the soundtrack?

There was no Greatest Hits release.

The versions: PS2 Black Label, PC CD-Rom, and a PC DVD-Rom.

I can confirm that the PS2 and PC CD-Rom versions both have the soundtrack included on an extra disc. I cannot confirm the PC DVD-Rom version until I buy one...

I've yet to find a PS2 label that doesn't say "Includes Soundtrack". I'll be on the lookout though. There may exist a version that didn't include it.

However, I just came across this as I was typing up this post. From the Silent Hill wiki:
The American release came with an extra soundtrack CD, titled "Silent Hill 3 Official Soundtrack" (containing 25 tracks), a first in the series.

This may mean a search for a soundtrack-less copy is futile if it is referring to all U.S. releases.

edit: By "all U.S. releases" I mean all U.S. PS2 prints. Surely they made more than one print-run of the game.

Probably a good thing that you didn't buy them since you can get them all NEW from Amazon.com for less than that.

With free shipping, nonetheless. :)

I found a couple of nice copies of those titles at various stores over the weekend, but even with the B2G2 sale I didn't feel like spending $60 in one fell swoop on that when I could have gotten a good 16+ games for the same price. I was a bit tempted though, to be honest, since that's the first time I've seen them in the store for a long time. But I'll wait those suckers out. I spent too much this past week on the B2G2 sale anyway

More from the Buy 2 Get 2 Free

Gamecube Road Trip - $2.99
http://www.gamestop.com/gc/games/road-trip-used/32706
ChorQ type of game, mini racers. Okay now I need the GBA cart to unlock the extra track! Yet another game to hunt for, sheesh.

Gamecube Tube Slider - $2.99 FREE
http://www.gamestop.com/gc/games/tube-slider-used/29782
Hey its Wipeout or FZero (take your pick) tube track racing. Can't drive off the track here. Now where did I see this before, Atari Arcade Stun Runner. Made by NEC, yes that same TurboGrafx-16 company! An okay game. I got this one for the rarity.

GBA Rebelstar - $3.99 FREE
http://www.gamestop.com/gba/games/rebelstar-tactical-command/23007
Another remake from an older game, this time DOS XCom. Its been reviewed to be as good as Advance Wars. So far I haven't the patience, too much preliminaries of staging my team. Too many games to test, maybe when I have some time I will really dive into this tactical one.

GBA Defender - $4.99
http://www.gamestop.com/gba/games/defender-used/31144
The Arcade Defender along with Robotron are my favorite panic stay alive games. I had to snag this one up. Already own GBA Midway Classics and an inspired Defender game GBA Super Dropzone. GBA Defender has a new remake, meh I like the original better. Going to options, I found a perfect rendition of the Arcade seems better then the GBA Midway release. The remake can be mixed with the original sounds, now thats the way to play it. Smart Bombs!

GBA Gauntlet Rampart - $2.99 FREE
http://www.gamestop.com/gba/games/gauntlet-rampart-used/41785
Rampart drew me in to this mixed set. Tetris build the castle walls, place cannons and fire on the ships. The original Arcade voice is even in this tiny cart! "Cease Fire". Wait a minute, I have Rampart on the PS2 Midway collection, wonder if the mouse will work with the Smart Joy Frag.

yr a little off... Rebelstar is the game that Julian Cope made before the X-Com series. So Rebelstar Tactical Command is actually a sequel to the early Rebelstar games, although it plays much closer to an X-Com game. However, it's not a remake of anything. It's its own original game, not found elsewhere. It's also excellent. One of my favorite GBA strategy games.

picked up panzer dragoon, in very awesome condition at a local pawn shop. case is kinda scratched up but nothing is missing (including foam pad lol) and disk is barely touched. the place is quite sleazy (and disgusting) and the owner is very pushy and typically not someone you would want to be in company with for long. He wanted $35 for it, simply based on my reaction (I got a bit excited for it forgetting that the owner likes to haggle even if you don't yourself), I wouldn't take it for that claiming that the game typically goes for $15 to $20 (as far as i know...it does). he finally let me buy it for $25. not bad in my opinion.

Midway Madness

PS2 Midway Arcade Treasures - $5.99 FREE
http://www.gamestop.com/ps2/games/midway-arcade-treasures/28507
I already own this one as well as volumes two and three. Found out there was another version without the "1" on the cover. The reason for the two versions? My hope was a fix on Super Sprint, the throttle is stuck gas on. The Analog Stick has to be HELD down to slow down or stop. Either Reactive or Full settings has no affect to the Analog stick. The other gas pedal option is the awkward direction pad, which does stop the car hands off. Why couldn't the X button have been utilized as a momentary throttle?

Da games:
Wiki wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midway_Arcade_Treasures

The collection consists of the following 24 arcade games:

720°, released in 1986
Blaster, released in 1983
Bubbles, released in 1983
Defender, released in 1980
Defender II aka StarGate, released in 1981
Gauntlet, released in 1985
Joust, released in 1982
Joust 2: Survival of the Fittest, released in 1986
Klax, released in 1989
Marble Madness, released in 1984
Paperboy, released in 1984
Rampage, released in 1986
Rampart, released in 1990
Road Blasters, released in 1987
Robotron: 2084, released in 1982
Root Beer Tapper, released in 1984
Satan's Hollow, released in 1982
Sinistar, released in 1982
Smash TV, released in 1990
SPLAT!, released in 1982
Spy Hunter, released in 1983
Super Sprint, released in 1986
Toobin', released in 1988
Vindicators, released in 1988

Turns out my disc is the original, so I went out a second time and did a swap at another Gamestop. They had the reverse mixup, so we both got our sets matched up correctly. I now have both versions, the discs are different. Oh crap, its only different art. The game code is identical in both, Super Sprint is still buggy. Oh well, I can play it the fixed version in the Gamecube.

Gamcube Sonic DX - $9.99
Why buy this Dreamcast remake? Not because of maybe an improvement in graphics. Its because of the Chao characters that lived for what is it five minutes before the DC VMU died. I wanted to see what all the fuss is about. Now I can try these out using the GBA as a portable feed your pet Tamagotchi "VMU" game. I'll be sure to have the volume off in public.

As an added bonus there are some Game Gear Sonic games to unlock.
