When I mention it to friends that don't already know about it, they often give me a bewildered look and say something like "I've already got a Wii." Then I have to explain a little more.

Hm. Maybe the Wii U will have a chance after all. I just think trying to recreate the Wii will fail hard. I think they should go after recreating the SNES. The controller alone can be used in amazing ways for hardcore games, if they promote it as a hardcore machine with as good as they can get hardcore support (specially Japanese one) maybe it can become a success :)

The Super Wii!
A sure-fire success. What could possibleye go wrong?

Any word on potential price? I really hope it's not $400 at launch.

The prevailing theory I have heard is that it will be between $300 and $400, which makes me frown because I like Nintendo's track record of hitting that $250 mark.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

:(

I was kinda hoping that after the failure of the 3DS launch, thanks to the overly high price, that Nintendo wouldn't do it again. I like Nintendo and all, but I'd have a hard time paying that much for their hardware.

Damn, I was hoping it was going to be cheap like Nintendo normally is. I didn't buy a 3DS because of the stupidly high price and probably won't buy the Wii U unless it's cheap like the Gamecube and Wii were.

We don't know the hardware specs yet, but we can safely assume they won't be as cheaply gained as those parts were. Plus, inflation.

There is no way the new system will be under $300. That controller has to be expensive and the system is suppose to over power the 360 and PS3 both which still average around $299.
