Seriously though, don't let my [poor] opinion get ya down, Bone. Just shake it off, shake it off.

Still chugging through Final Fantasy VIII. Made it to disc 2, and I just snuck into the missile base as Selphie.

I'm actually really enjoying the game so far, and it's speeding up a bit now I've drawn a lot of spells. I actually need to start picking which ones are worth keeping though, as I'm running our of draw space on some characters.

I actually wish I'd done some more levelling though, as the games a bit of a cakewalk so far and the tougher enemies might have given me a little more to do. I can kill most bosses in 2 hits as Squall as it stands

I hope the first disc was the longest one, because if they're all about 20 hours long then this is gonna take me a lot longer than the 50 hours Howlongtobeat predicted!

Don't even do that again, I don't need that stuck in my head anymore

Though honestly I'm in the group that finds SMB and just about any 8bit game that I've tried on the hard side for what I'm used too(the small exception being Zelda I which I just get lost in now and killed in...and I'm not even in the lost woods ha ha). I love the look and feel of 8bit games, I just suck at them  Now 16-bit era that's a little hit or miss since I'm chugging through Chrono and not having a issue with it(bar my stupidity which I ended up finding my 32gb micro sd and adapter and ended up copying my 3ds stuff over and had no issues on the 3ds ^_^)...I need a lot more practice(too bad there's not a portable retron5 with ips compatibility so I could take my chrono and other imports on the go)
My gameroom
My systems: NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, original gba, gba sp(001), ds lite, 3ds, vita, psp, PSone(101 model) ps2, ps3(320gb model), ps4, retron 5, and Dreamcast.

You've just encapsulated everything that went wrong with the game's mechanics. Final Fantasy II's mechanics made sense; take damage gain health, hit stuff gain strength. It was merely that training against yourself was much faster than training against monsters.

Super Mario Bros. is quite possibly the first video game I ever played, and I remember being in awe of it as a kid and cheering the first time my dad beat it while I watched. I have beaten it several times now, and the truth is I actually don't care much for the gameplay. It's in a genre I don't much like, with certain exceptions. Hell, it headlines the platformer genre. But it is still a nostalgic trip for me, so I can't knock it too much.

Key, I am glad you played it, even if you didn't care for it. It was my gateway to this wonderful world of gaming.

On the topic of Final Fantasy VIII, I wanted you guys to know that I copypasted some of your Triple Triad conversations to my best friend, who is a huge Final Fantasy fan and also coincidentally playing through Final Fantasy VIII.

Basically I prefaced it with: "I have no idea what they're talking about, but I knew you would, and thought it might amuse you."

And she responded with: "HOW CAN ANYONE NOT LIKE TRIPLE TRIAD?!" Then she tried explaining to me, and sent me the music, and went on to point out how this all relates to why she's been wandering around and not talking to certain NPCs (because apparently they "will @#*$ up the rules").

She did concede that she hated this minigame at first, though. But yeah. Apparently Triple Triad feels run deep for many.

I think everyone feels like Triple Triad is terrible at first. Your cards are shit and you don't really understand the strategy yet or have a feel for how to win. But then something clicks, maybe you talked to the right NPC and got a high level card that you can make the linchpin, but now you start winning. And the more you win the more you continue to win, the way things go (which tends to be the case for every ante-based video game card game). And then you realize you can card mod to hilariously pimp out your characters.

At that point, Triple Triad becomes awesome.

Klonoa: Door to Phantomille (PSN)

Well I thought I could beat this the other night but... wow, the final levels got incredibly difficult all of the sudden  A LOT of super tricky platforming, and 6-2 had a few of these puzzle rooms which I had quite a bit of trouble with.

I got to the final boss and only needed to hit him two more times, but I died and I have to do 6-2 all over again argg. Super frustrating... I'll try again tomorrow.

And then you either spend hours skirting around spreading crap rules or else try to deal with it and inevitably end up losing your best Abaddon card to some prick in Balamb Garden who plays a Tonberry on the last turn and causes the 'same rule to turn every card his colour and it all falls apart again.

Not that happened to me and I'm bitter or anything.

The worst bit is I still wasn't enjoying it, I was just trying to unlock one of the battle report upgrades...

Anyhow, on the FFVIII front I just crash landed at Fisherman's Wharf. I wish Selphie hadn't been compulsory for the missile base mission, as she's probably the most amusing character to me and I'm getting bored of being stuck with Zell and Rinoa. Selphies also behind Rinoa in levels now too.

Hopefully they come back soon.
