I think I spoke too soon - this really isn't too pricey, not even on American Amazon... Maybe I'll snag it eventually.

Congrats man, if you beat FF1 you should be able to beat the others (good luck with 2 though...personally that'd be the only FF i'd skip). I share similar mindset with you when it comes to games. In fact, I think I've only started to beat games recently because of peer pressure on the internet.noiseredux wrote:http://www.rfgeneration.com/blogs/noise ... n-2542.php
And you not spending money makes a lot more sense for Chaos. He's pretty hard, but I remember you said you were spending like 11 hours to grind for him
Anyway, your review has me thinking, maybe I should play FF1 myself? I've never beaten it myself though I've watched my friends. I've always thought it was cool when I was a kid but I'd always get lost. Since I'm playing Dragon Warrior 1, it might be cool to do a comparison.
Only difference is I'm kinda jelly of the FF1 remake you're playing, the updated graphics look cool. If I can get my iPhone working maybe I will play it on there, I'm pretty sure they have an enhanced port of the game on there as well.

I put a ton of time into Sorcer Striker - never did make it past stage 4 on 1 credit. Made it to stage 6 on my 3rd credit, and needed another 3 credits to beat the stage 6 boss rush...which is by FAR the hardest level of any shmup i've ever played. I've poured hours into this game and I don't know that I can ever do less than 6 credits - this game is absolutely brutal. I see the world record scores are in the 2mil range, but i'm very happy with my 354K and 6 credit clear.
This game is so innovative not only with boss design, but boss bullet-pattern (as well as boss charging patterns, etc). So many amazing and fun enemies in this game. Unreal.
1. EspGaluda - PCB
2. Ganryu - MVS
3. Magical Drop 2 - MVS
4. Sutte Hakkun - SFC
5. Wild Guns - SNES
6. Sorcer Striker - PCB
7. Rush n' Attack - NES
8. Power Stone - PSP
9. Umihara Kawase - SFC
10. Pro Gear - PCB

hmm I read the FF1 remake is a much different experience from the original. I might just bootleg the NES version.
Re: Summer Game Challenge 2013 - What will you be playing?
Guess who just squashed a bug!1. Donkey Kong Country
2. Pilotwings
3. StarFox
4. John Madden Football
5. Super Mario Bros 3 (Super Mario All-Stars)
6. NBA Jam
7. Prince of Persia
8. Sunset Riders
9. Yoshi's Island
10. Chrono Trigger
So, Chrono Trigger is down. I have unlocked the New Game + option. Final status: Chrono, level 54, with the best equipment he can get in the game, all techs, Strength, Speed, and Magic Resistance all **. He's close to maxing out his HP and MP, and soon his Stamina will reach ** too. I don't think I'll be able to solo Lavos immediately, though maybe after a second run through I'll stick a boot up that fat space parasite's ass.
Moving on: time to go for Prince of Persia and StarFox.

Bah. Ducktales is ticking me off.
It's not that it's hard, it's just that I suck
This is why I don't beat platformers and have always viewed them as something to 'pick up and play' as opposed as something to beat.
I'll keep at it, but I think I'll pick something else to play while Scrooge and I solder on. Maybe I'll join noise in Killer7 and Doom. Getting squashed by that statue so many times has given me the urge to shoot something.

Well, I just made it through the training mode for Prince of Persia. This is going to be a slog, as this guy controls about as well as a barge, if that barge were in a video game designed by Pen and Teller and had to travel at 45 mph in a desert from Tucson, Arizona, to Las Vegas, Nevada, while veering slightly to the right. Oh wait, that game actually exists, and I think it controls better than Prince of Persia...1. Donkey Kong Country

Hmm...I've always thought of Sorcer Striker as one of the easier arcade 1CCs out there. I've cleared it with Bornnam and a score of 1.76 million (Stage 2-2 in the loop). Stage 6 is tough, but there are a lot of bombs in the game. You can have something like 8 or 9 spare bombs by the end of Stage 2, I seem to remember.mjmjr25 wrote:I put a ton of time into Sorcer Striker - never did make it past stage 4 on 1 credit. The big kick in the teeth comes after you beat Gigaface...first time I did that, I sat back to let the credits roll when Bashinet jumped out again and killed me before I had enough time to react. Doh! It took me ages to get back to that part again. I reckon it took me about 6-8 hours to reach the final boss in one credit, and about 18 hours to actually get the 1CC...

Yeah, I saw yr score over on shmups - it's a pretty select few who've got recorded clears over there. This game just doesn't resonate with me - in regard to improvement anyways. My first runs I was getting to 3rd stage...12 hours later i'd occasionally make 4th stage. Maybe if I credited through a few more times and saw the 4th/5th and all the 6th stage bosses they'd become more manageable, but in the couple times I did see them - brutal, just the sheer time it took to beat them and the different ways they come at you. I think stage 5 boss it is? The one who has the spike-boulder arms that swing at you...and he charges you...FAST, the dude soaked me for 3 lives until I just spam bombed him.
