Moore's whole point was to ruin the notion of superheros. It seemed to work.BurningDoom wrote:I'm probably gonna get lynched for this, but...not only did I not like the movie, but I didn't like the comic book either, and I'm a comic fan. I wish you both the best of luck, because as far as I know there has never been a DVD release, nor is MGM planning one any time soon. There is a VHS, but it's pretty pricey and the picture is dark and cropped, not the clear widescreen version I saw on TCM (God bless you, TCM, for your anal-retentive "must keep film in its preserved, original form" ways).Nintendork666 wrote:I need to see this. Yeah, depressing was kinda the whole point of it.OldSchool_Boy wrote:Moore's whole point was to ruin the notion of superheros. The movie is probably my favorite counter to people who say that some adaptation would've been better if it stuck closer to its source material. Watchmen proved that just because you stick close to good source material doesn't mean the movie itself will turn out anywhere near as good.

I understand that. But it's not depressing in a good way, if that makes sense. The Crow was a depressing movie, but it was a fantastic movie that I can watch over and over again. The Watchmen didn't give me that same feeling, it almost made me feel like I did something wrong and that I should be depressed.AppleQueso wrote:Yeah, depressing was kinda the whole point of it.OldSchool_Boy wrote:

I get what you mean, although I've only ever read the book. There's good depressing, and then there's bad depressing.BurningDoom wrote:I understand that. Probably about 13 years too late but I finally got around to watching The Big Lebowski. I give it a thumbs up.

I would recommend it. The 'Dude' is probably about the most chilled out character I've ever see.BoringSupreez wrote:I still haven't done it...BRIK wrote:Probably about 13 years too late but I finally got around to watching The Big Lebowski. I give it a thumbs up.
