That is a perfect reason to include the NDS versions. I am - obviously - a fan of the series, and I would love to see it represented on the list. (If we are going to choose just one, I vote for the original. It is the best stand-alone experience.)
While that one is a great experience I voted for Trials and Tribulations because it actually has a very fun case that was actually built for the DS and can really only be done well on the DS, or eShop on 3DS but we're not including those. I can see where the original is a better introduction if you're only getting one though.
Also, I can't believe I forgot Tingle's Freshly Picked Rosy Rupeeland. That was an experience that we unfortunately didn't get here. Tingle's Balloon Fight is a fun Balloon Fight and I'd like to like Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love but until it gets a English translation will remain unplayable to most of us.

The final case of the DS version of
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is the one with the special stuff not appearing in the GBA originator. But I have heard nothing of
Trials & Tribulations also having one of these special DS only cases. Is this true? Or did you mistype?

You're right, I was thinking it was T & T that had it. My bad. Defintely the first game for inclusion then and thank you for the clarification.

No mention of
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan? What the hell is wrong with you?

Shadow Dragon was the first FE game I played and I remember thinking it was fairly dull, mostly because most available units are terrible and you end up using Ogma for everything. The map design is also too simple, and fairly gimmicky (Balllista map, Mage map, long-range attacks in spiral castle map, etc.). It's not bad, but I didn't have a good impression of it.
People speak much better of the FE3 remake and I'm told the fan translation is top-notch but I haven't tried it.

Did this one stall out or are you going to get it going again?

Hey, check these out. I know it's not related, but for some of you NDS collectors, this could be a cool little sub collection:

DS Download Station? What the heck is that? Is it some sort of officialy sanctioned re-writeable cart? Is it similar to the Famicom Disk System re-writeable disks?
Edit: wait a moment... I seem to remember DS kiosks in gamestop with wireless downloadable content. Someone opened one up and found that there was a standard DS running inside with sharing turned on. Is that what's going on here? Are these the carts from the kiosk?

yes, that's what they are. there are plenty on eBay for a reasonably low price...
