Plus whatever I happen to make from selling games, but considering I only sell dupes and I have very few of those kicking around, I don't see it going up much higher than 14-1500. I have set the precedent, with my purchase of the 3DO USB adapter, that I'm willing to dip into my budget early and hey, if I blow all $1300 by March guess I'm gonna have a looooong end of the year

Also, I'm going to focus on making my collection prettier in a couple ways -- I'm getting UGCs done up for more and more games so as to be better shelf candy, I'm displaying everything FINALLY since I'm getting my house in order at long last, and I'm continuing to work on better video output from systems -- Component where possible, S-video if I can't, Composite if I really must. I could do RGB, but I like my 36" Trinitron too much to buy a PVM that's going to be significantly smaller, especially since the difference between RGB and YPbPr is all but indistinguishable to the average human eye (and I wear glasses so I'm not even a good eye), and if I'm going to be transcoding the SCART anyway, what's the point? Plus the system modding allows me to reduce the number of proprietary cords and get most systems down to standard RCA jacks.

Tertiary importance as far as goals/resolutions is I WOULD really like to finish off a "complete" collection (even if it's cart only) of SOME system, even if it's one of the smaller/less loved systems.
Welp... not even close on the budget, but I'm somehow not surprised. I'm going to try going back to feast or famine mode -- when I note I'm carrying a balance on my credit cards (through a combination of video games and house improvements), cut out ALL game spending until they're back to zero, then when I hit zero allow myself to buy some more.

I DO have the majority of my games in UGCs and displayed all nice-nice though, so I've made excellent progress on that. The next step will be the NES collection, once my credit card balances are at zero, because I'll be doing Bit Boxes for those, and 180+ Bit Boxes are going to add up.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed

I might also collect all the all stars games for the dreamcast.
Well that failed. Sold my dc collection to support familyand now i never touch the 3ds or 360 anymore.
I am getting some wii classics back like the essentials but after I figured out I will only spend 30.00 a month the first check of the month and buy a game or a couple games for the wii till my small collection is completed. Also not to go to savers or thrift stores anymore either. I only find junk and this will calm my impulse and collecting habit.

1. Play through the rest of the Wario Land series (I only need to beat Wario Land (VB) and Wario Land: Shake It! (Wii).)

2. Start a series, and play though all of the games in it (There are some recent series - such as Devil May Cry, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, Uncharted, etc. - that I have never touched. I would like to pick one and play through all of the games in one of those series in chronological order.)

3. Finally push through both Nectaris: Military Madness (PS1) and Return Fire (PS1) (I respect both game immensely - and I have sunk hours into each one - I just do not have the will power to finish them, however.)

4. Finish collecting at least one sub-set of 2600 games (I suspect I will acquire the rest of the Activision "standard label" games at some point this year.)

5. Acquire a PSP and mod it

6. Acquire an Atari 7800

7. Finish off one of my collection (I only need to 21 10 games to complete my N64 collection and 41 43 games to finish off my Xbox collection. None of the games I require are particularly expensive; so, I suspect that - with a few internet purchaes - I can finish off one or the other before the end of the year.)

8. Continue to amass PS3 and Wii games (It is currently a great time to be buying used games for those systems.)

9. "Complete" all of the games in my collection that missing their manuals (15 games in my collection are missing their manuals, and it is driving me CRAZY!)

10. Photograph my collection and post the pictures to the forums (For most of my collection, this will not be that hard. I just need to do it.)

11. Grab all of the game I want from PSN and WiiWare store while they are still available

12. Play through all of the non-RPG games in one or more of my collections (This is a long-shot, but I do not think it would be that difficult for me to play through all of the non-RPG games in my 3DS, Gameboy, or Wii collections.)
Two down! :D

I picked up a very cheap PSP 1001 a few weeks ago, and I finished cleaning and modding it yesterday. I now have a way to play through some classic console games on a portable system, and I plan on using my newly modded PSP to help me with the Summer Gaming Challenge.

I am also working my way through some new series. I completed LittleBigPlanet (PS3) and LittleBigPlanet 2 (PS3); so, the only game I have left in that series is LittleBigPlanet (PSP). I picked up a copy of that game recently, and I can probably get through it before the end of the year. Likewise, I finished Uncharted recently, and I plan on playing through Uncharted 2 this summer. Accordingly, I may actually get through two new series before the end of the year.

I also continue to get good prices on used PS3 and Wii games. The recent sales at Gamestop have enlarged my collections tremendously, and I don't think that there are any complete, sub-$10 PS3 or Wii games left in Charlotte that I need for them.

Finally, I have almost completed my N64 collection. (Strangely, however, I am no closer to finishing off my Xbox collection. :? ) I picked up Starcraft 64 last month - which was one of the "expensive" games I needed for my collection - and if I acquire ten more games, I will be done hunting N64 titles.

Three down! :D

I am also pretty close on 2, 3, and 7, and although I have probably already accomplished 8, I will wait until the end of the year before checking it off my list.

Half the year done. Updates?:
alienjesus wrote:1. Build up my collection for the following systems: Gamecube, N64, Saturn, DS, PSP.
Picked up StarFox Assault on Gamecube, Dragon Force on Saturn, 999, Solatorobo, Pokémon Ranger 2, Pokémon Typing Adventure & Maestro on DS and Yggdra Union, Project DIVA 2nd & Project DIVA Extend on PSP. Progress being made!

2. Beat 2 numbered Final Fantasy games this year.
Finished FFVII

3. Beat at least 5 of the 8 games on last years games unbeaten list.
Beaten: Kirby's Epic Yarn, FFVII, Shantae. Not beaten: Nintendo Land, Blaster Master, Aeroporter, Animal Crossing, Mario & Luigi Dream Team Bros.

4. Get all consoles on my backloggery down to 3 or less unbeaten games.
Hahaha no. Currently over 3: Wii (9), SNES (5), DS (9), Saturn (4), Game Gear (4), PS2 (12), Vita (5), PSP (5), NGPC (4)

5. Participate in more than half of this years Together Retro games, and beat at least 50% of those I play.
Participated in 3 of 6. Beaten 2 (although one of those I;d beaten before). Need to join in more

6. Limit buying to roughly 3 games per month - not including cheap digital deals or together retro games. Preferably 1 modern game, 1 more pricy retro game and 1 other game of my choice. The goal here being to try and pick up some of the slightly pricier games I've been wanting whilst also cutting down my backlog a little.
Could have been worse, but no, this hasn't really happened.

Beating Return Fire and Military Madness allows me to cross off #3.

I also realized last week that I didn't have much use for my Gamestop "Buy 2 Get 1" coupons because no GameStop in Charlotte has three games under $10 I want for my collection. Accordingly, I am also crossing off #8.

I will probably get through #2, #6, and #10 before the end of the year, but it is too early to call it for the rest of them.
