It's like two different experiences for me in most cases. I love Mega Man X just as much as Maverick Hunter X. Same goes for Rhondo of Blood and the Rhondo remake.
The new stuff is usually awesome, but the originals still have the charm of the retro graphics and nostalgia
Although in cases where they really botch the remake (like Turtles in Time Re-Shelled), then the original is definitely better

interesting surprised its not a sequel
Re: Castle of Illusion remake incoming
This I can't see. To me the original looks classic, timeless, and the remake looks too garish, grotesque at points. Perhaps it's just a graphical style I'm not used to. I do think that FFIV PSP looks great, but then again I've only seen it on Youtube, so maybe I'll change my mind when I play it on a real PSP.Gamerforlife wrote:It's like two different experiences for me in most cases. 2.5D <<<<<<<<<<< 2D. /discussion
So yeah, if the graphics remain 2D but get higher resolution sprites and backgrounds (though I'd like to keep the option of turning on the original graphics), I'll probably like the remake. But I just don't like 2.5D when it comes to platformers. It was only fun in Klonoa, Tombi and Pandenomium.

I just purchased the game today and played straight through to the end. I need the gem collection trophy to finish the list. I enjoyed the experience for being a new game. It really made me appreciate the original and the many time playing growing up.

I second this, I liked World of Illusion much more than Castle of Illusion, that water stage is just...bliss.Pulsar_t wrote:A World of Illusion sequel with local co-op would be sweet indeed.

I just played the demo to this. It was pretty fun and I really liked the 2D/3D transitions. I've been meaning to play the classic Mickey games for years. Now this remake has compelled me to them.

Is there a site that would list all the retro ports on different platforms or remakes?
From time to time I get extremely surprised that there are ports/remakes on iOS and PSN that I never knew about , and this Mickey title is one of them

I just beat it and I loved every moment of it. Definitely a worthy companion to the genesis classic.

Yes we need more Quackshot. That game was so much fun. I played through it recently and it still stands the test of time. I would love to see a re-imagining of it.CFFJR wrote:I just beat it and I loved every moment of it. Definitely a worthy companion to the genesis classic.
