http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww_PjqYQi5EImo Castlevania 4 is an amazing game, but it's true that I find it very very very different compared to the first one, but in such a way that most people don't really think about it
Yeah that video's pretty dead on.
Still a very fun and very good game, of course, but yeah it makes good points.

It's basically a remake of the original game...
What?
It's essentially a retelling of the story in the first game. It's a 'remake' in a similar sense that Star Fox 64 could be considered a remake of the original Star Fox.
I know Castlevania's history quite well. I was puzzled by Zing's post which basically said:
"It has no relation to Castlevania, but it is Castlevania", which either makes zero logical sense or Zing posted a zen like observation.
It's not a remake. Certain level designs/characters/soundtracks appear from the original trilogy, but is it's own game.

I think he meant that there wasn't story continuity between the previous Castlevania games and IV, so you wouldn't lose anything by coming in with IV.

I don't think anyone plays Castlevania for its storyline. In fact the lame anime character cut scenes in Dawn of Shadows was very annoying for me....

Symphony of the Night's voice acting was possibly the best part of playing the game.

Sure you do. It is in no way related to the other games in the series. It's basically a remake of the original game, except with some of the best graphics and music for the SNES and flawless controls.
Anyone that doesn't agree with this either isn't a fan of the Castlevania series, or has never played the game.
..and it's not a remake, it's just the same plot/time period/events. The game itself is quite different.

Watch that video I linked. It explains very well why one might like Castlevania 1 more than 4.

Get a fc twin so you can play both Nes and snes easy.
Before you post, make sure what you write is accurate. You clearly have access to the internet. Use a search engine and check facts, names, spelling, etc.
Norris, you don't like Mario games? Mega Man? Contra? Castlevania? Actraiser? F-Zero? Metroid? There are also some good shoot 'em ups on the system. It just blows me away that someone who is into retro gaming doesn't want that stuff.
Bear in mind I only bothered to read the first page of this thread when I posted this.

You suck! Go die!
But seriously, I used to have a huge list of SNES games that I wanted to get ahold of, but that was back when I could get into RPGs and well, wanted to have a pointlessly huge collection. Now I have less than 20 games for the system and those are honestly the only ones I care to own. Probably about 98% of those are "first party" titles.
Only thing I really disagree with here is anything that's been said about the Genesis that doesn't imply or clearly state that it sucks.
