I think that if I had any complaint about this game, it's that there seem to be some serious omissions. I guess that's a criticism this game cannot escape, though. It's built into the very premise of the game.

I'd have loved to have seen a few more games get a level like Sonic CD, Sonic Pocket Adventure, Sonic Advance, Shadow the Hedgehog... but the game would have been insane to develop if they hadn't cut the list somewhere. And even then, level specific criticism would be there, too. "You chose this level but not that one!?"

Of course, the fact that Sega didn't use the entire catalog always leaves them a lot of material if they ever try to do a Sonic Generations 2.

I'm holding out some small hope that they might make Tails or Knuckles available via dlc.

I'm sure they won't do it, but I can dream.

I'm planning to get the 3ds version as well at some point. It has some different levels and bosses.

I think I'll try it out too, since it's the only version with multiplayer (barring some kind of DLC). Sounds like it's just versus races, but that's better than the current alternative. :P

So, those of you who are playing, how are you doing progress wise?

I just finished getting my last S-rank a moment ago. That includes all the stages, all challenges, and all rivals/bosses on hard mode for a total of 122 S-ranks. One might think that would be a chore, but it was so damn fun it just breezed by for me.

All I have left to do is get the achievement for beating the final boss without taking a hit, and collect the remaining red rings to get the collectibles/skills/achievements that are associated with them.

Can you tell I'm obsessed?

Not sure how far along we are, I don't think we have all the S-ranks, just the red rings. It's been a tag team effort between me and my brother with him doing the majority of the work. We got the S-ranks and red rings fairly quick on the classic Sonic stages, which is too bad because those are the ones I wish there were more of in the game. :P

The time trials are still fun, though, whenever I revisit the game now it's mostly to play through the classic stages again. I'll let my brother deal with the modern Sonic stuff!

Modern Rooftop Run is officially my favorite sonic level ever. That it was salvaged from Unleashed is too ironic.

The most recent demo on psn had a lot of lag when I played it. Does the actual retail version have this issue?

There are a couple of hiccups here and there but it's not too bad. I just finished the PS3 version and I was totally satisfied.

I didn't have any slowdown on the 360 version. Smooth as silk the whole way through.

I had a couple of clipping issues where Sonic would go flying through a wall or a floor that should have supported him (to my death), but that happened maybe 3 times in the many hours I played. That also only happened on Modern levels, which of course are crazy fast. Never happened on the Classic levels.

I hit 100% last night by the way. What a blast.
