I got RE3 and RE:CV on the DC, and if anything, RE3 on DC lets you pick a character skin right away instead of having to complete the game first, and the graphic quality is pretty decent
(but that's just my DC bias again)
Never played Resident Evil 2 before...

i can be wrong, but when a game I can find on another more recent platform(ex. gamecube) I try to play it on that system because I try to save the life of my Dreamcast for exclusive games or games that shine on the Dreamcast in particular. So I am playing RE2 on Gamecube instead of Dreamcast now , also MDK2 a new release in HD is out so I will play that instead of the Dreamcast version.ExedExes wrote:I got RE3 and RE:CV on the DC, and if anything, RE3 on DC lets you pick a character skin right away instead of having to complete the game first, and the graphic quality is pretty decent

MDK2! Never have I seen a game with such a *perfect* difficulty. Sure there are some spots that make you want to pull your hair out, but it's never too easy, but it was never too hard either. Save points were ample and the 3-character action was a nice change of pace.kingmohd84 wrote:i can be wrong, but when a game I can find on another more recent platform(ex. gamecube) I try to play it on that system because I try to save the life of my Dreamcast for exclusive games or games that shine on the Dreamcast in particular. Director's Cut vs Remake.
I like Remake, but I'd rather play Director's Cut any day. It's just more fun to me and has that charm of being the first RE I played way back in 97. The PS1 RE's and to a degree CVX have that old school feel to them. Zero and Remake just don't to me.
And as I said before, Director's Cut has many different "alternate" scenes that are not in Remake. In Remake there's only one way for things to play out. In Director's Cut, there are options depending on what answers you give the game, or how you play. I've always appreciated that and don't understand why they ever took that out of the Remake.

They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.
Re: Never played Resident Evil 2 before...
I think they're both worth playing for different reasons. If you're new to the series, Remake is an excellent entrance piece, giving you the basics of what Resident Evil is about while throwing a couple of curve balls like the Crimson Heads. True, there's some that is lacking from the formula, but some folks are just out for the distilled experience and that's it. Director's Cut on the other hand, that's for the folks who have been around the block a couple of times and want that something extra. Director's Cut also happens to be my favorite version, but it's not for everyone, especially if you're coming into the series late.

PS1 Dual Shock version for starters. ALWAYS play on legacy hardware before moving on to ports.
As for the definitive version of RE2, DC without a doubt. Why? It's based off the PC version which added all the extra galleries, videos, etc. Also:
-Nightmare Mode
-VMU vital stats
-The most consistent frame rate of the ports. Runs 60 FPS stable.
-FMVs are rendered 640×480

Pretty sure this applies to the gamecube port too.s1mplehumar wrote: -The most consistent frame rate of the ports. Runs 60 FPS stable.

GC port lacks those extras though. I've been considering replacing my GC versions with the DC ones.

Re: Never played Resident Evil 2 before...
Hmm. I think only the DC version sports true 640x480, since it's a port of the PC version. I remember reading the Cube version takes the native 320x240 from the PS original and upscales with apparent blurriness. And the FMVs are fullscreen for the DC version and much sharper.AppleQueso wrote:Pretty sure this applies to the gamecube port too.s1mplehumar wrote: -The most consistent frame rate of the ports. If you were talking about the original RE revamped for Cube I'd say keep it.AppleQueso wrote:hmm
