I'll try to refrain from any more mention of the books. It's just that's it become sort of second nature as any time I hear people talk about the show, the books get mentioned too

I think I used to complain about that when I wasn't a reader myself, and now I do it too. Go figure. So I'll just keep my thoughts revolving around the show and only the show

Why do you build me up, buttercup baby just to let me down?

This was one of the worst episodes yet.

It was the most predictable episodes I can remember where I was speaking characters lines before they left their lips. "Don't throw that gun at me", "This is going to sting" and the girl giving the King an eyepatch was cringe worthy and something you would see in a third rate sitcom.

Speaking of sitcoms, when did the walking dead start being a stage for upcoming rock groups? The songs played on the show have no meaning to what is on screen.

Not feeling the entire Big Daddy/Hit Girl-esque story line so far either, but it's too early to rule that it won't be an interesting arc. But that episode...piu.

Haven't watched the new episode yet. More new songs? Seems like they're doing that every episode now.

Can't say I was let down by anything in episode 6. I've come to expect and not really care about cheesy dialogue since episode 1. It's a given, take it or leave it.

I think it's really an interesting turn though to make the gov'nah a sympathetic character (it was expected, but cool to see that it did come to fruition). It's a role that even the most vile of characters can believably take after so much mental trauma and chaos the universe inflicts on the. He is a pretty cool character (if you favor such morally gray characters), so I'm looking forward to where they take him with this new plot. Not likely that Glen and Maggie will be able to accept him into the group after prior events, and I have a good feeling Carol will find her way into the equation, but yeah. DRAMA

Overall the episode was not some masterfully directed piece of fiction with top notch actors (this series has never been that, and it's not trying to be that), but for me it's a step in an interesting direction that I'm looking forward to exploring.

That was a very confusing episode. Are they really trying to make him sympathetic, or is this just a set up before he goes full on evil again...like after something horrible happens to his new family

I don't see the point of making him a sympathetic character, and I'm not convinced it's even going to work after all the evil things we've seen him do last season. That's a bridge too far for me. You can't make this guy sympathetic, he's done too much, more than anyone on the show has done including Merle

Unless this leads to a big surprise, I share a lot of other people's sentiment that this was a lame episode, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and see what they are setting up here in the coming episodes. I think he'll go evil again...and be worse than ever, which could lead to some really fun stuff

Is it not 100% obvious to everyone that the Governor is playing his new group like a fiddle? The way this is going to end seems very predictable.

If you are specifically speaking of the first song of the episode, that's a song by Lucero, and I love them. The song doesn't really fit, but I like the band too much to care. I don't really mind the music as long as it doesn't distract me from the story, which in this case, it didn't.

I expected what came in this episode, and it was cliche, but I liked it alright. I also found it strange that this group knew so little about zombies after being there so long. She seriously never thought to shoot them in the head? Like ever? In general police training suggests to shoot in the chest, but still. I also don't really understand how trusting they are of this random guy who came out of nowhere- I understand being a good person, but if some guy I never met came up to the home where I and my daughter were staying, he sure as hell isn't staying the night.

del Toro is making a Walking Dead: Flu Vampires series for FX. This should be boringly interesting.
