this was on sci-fi last night. 3.5 stars out of 4, harrison ford staring, cool story, snatcher influenced: i was expecting to be very entertained. but, i was a little disappointed with it. i thought it was a little slow and a little boring. i don't think i quite understood the ending when the android saved deckard's life. and what about when deckard's partner tells him that rachael will eventually die and then deckard finds his calling card next to rachael?

i do think this would be a movie that gets better with subsequent watches, however.
It does, and reading the book it was based on, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, helps as well. Blade Runner isn't one of those movies that spends a lot of time explaining everything to the audience, it expects you to do some thinking and research of your own. Well, the Director's Cut does anyway (haven't watched the theatrical version).
One of my favorites!
I'm kind of mixed on which is the best version. Harrison Ford's narration adds a Detective Noir feel about the movie, but I like the non narrated version to really enjoy the sites of Syd Mead.

One of the Director's cuts is where it's at.

Next Avengers.

It was surprisingly good. Any fans of the Avengers comic needs to check this one out. And I know what many of you are thinking, it's the same reason why it took me (a huge comic geek) so long to check this one out: You think the concept of "kiddie Avengers" is stupid. But trust me, it works.

Griff the Invisible

I'm a fan of sorta indie movies like Eagle Vs Shark, Submarine, etc. Saw this one today and it's ok. Not great, but not terrible. I thought it was going to be more of a comedy, but it was more of a drama with bits of comedy. It stars Ryan Kwanten from TrueBlood fame.

He plays Griff, a shipping agent by day and vigilante/superhero "Griff" by night that no one seems to know exist (because he doesn't). There's not much else to explain on it. It's a rental, not a buy. If you've seen Eagle vs Shark, it's similar, at least when it comes to the relationship in the story. EvS is funnier, mainly because of Jemaine Clement but it's also... well, just funnier.

Griff was definitely better than Super by a longshot.

Super was so disappointing. After Slither, I expected more from James Gunn. His earlier movie, The Specials was pretty terrible in nearly every sense, but Slither was entertaining and decently funny - plus.. c'mon. Fillion's in it. So i thought Super would be pretty good, especially with Rainn Wilson in it.

He's great in Super, but he wasn't enough to save some pretty terrible pacing and terrible story. It goes from quirky-funny to violent in about 2 seconds. It's just not very well done. I may be in the minority when it comes to Super, but I really was disappointed in it, even WITH Nathan Fillion in it.

I bought a digital projector, so my list of recently watched movies is going to get really, really long.

Netflix sent me The Tourist a few days ago. I thought it was better than people had rated it.

Saw plenty of movies at the theaters within the last few weeks:

The BEST:
Captain America: the First Avenger (not true according to the comic books)

the WORST:
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (OK, TF fanboys, I agree, Micheal Bay raped my childhood!)

OK:
Cowboys and Aliens (something is missing here)

Mulholland Dr. - I love this film so much, it needs a Blu-Ray release ASAP though...

Ju-On - Chilling if a bit dissapointing but it's still much better than the remake IMHO.

Super - I loved it, dark, funny and incredibly real. Great superhero movie.
