Sorry but internet streamed/downloaded movies look like shit next to blurays on a quality tv.

Streaming video has gotten much better over the years. 1080p on Youtube looks very good imo.

But streaming aside, you can download files on the internet. From low quality to high quality. It's all possible.

I downloaded a 1080p Toy Story 2 and watched it on my HDTV and it looked fantastic. Blu Ray quality is excellent but that same file could be downloaded instead of being put on a plastic disc.

The Blu Ray format itself isn't what causes video to look so good. It's just a storage format. The internet is capable of identical or even better quality.

This is true. The only problem is people who don't have a good internet connection or a bandwith cap on their internet. That being said. I am totally fine with the Wii U not having a DVD or BluRay player built in. I'm not gonna get rid of my PS3 because I have a Wii U, or whatever.

My internet is barely fast enough to even stream 240p on YouTube. We've got a ways to go until streaming 1080p that looks as good as a well encoded Blu Ray can be standard practice.

And personally, I always want physical media. Part of my collector mentality.

I'm not a huge fan of streaming in general, because I don't like network hiccups potentially affecting my view. I'll download a bigass movie file if I want quality and watch it locally.

As far as I'm concerned, the only thing it has to read is fun games.

I do hope it's Netflix compatible though, which I'd assume is a given. I haven't gone a day without streaming something on my Wii since I've become a member. 8)

I still have an obese standard-def tv... Blu-Ray does nothing for me.

Yea I'm sticking to my ps3 and waiting for the Vita. I do really want to play the Wii U when it launches, but it will take some KILLER titles to sway my decision.

You guys do know that Nintendo just doesn't want to pay the 2 dollars per machine for the software needed to play DVDs and Blue rays right? Ah Nintendo. In the age of multi types of media on EVERY device, you still manage to fail so hard. At least your games are ace.

Yes, we know that. We just don't care because we aren't looking at the Wii U to provide our DVD watching capabilities. I support Nintendo in this venture. I like having dedicated devices for things.
