Nah, there's an awful lot of major changes. Bosses have basically all had their health doubled in the US versions, and their hitboxes are often smaller and vulnerable for a shorter time. They also made it harder to earn continues from the keymasters, so not only do you start with 2 continues instead of zero, but it's easier to get more too.

I've heard about the differences with that one Trouble Bruin fight from one of the GDQ speedruns, but is it all the bosses that have twice as much health in the international version? I didn't see any mention of that in that link. I think it's a tough game, for sure, but barring a difference in the amount of health the bosses have, I don't know that the differences in the Japanese version seem so much more wildly forgiving, even though two extra continues isn't insignificant. The US version still feels like it should be a manageable difficulty to me, regardless; I mainly lose in the war of attrition.

It's still one I go back and beat every now and then. Did it not too long ago (I think it was after someone here was talking about how hard it was), and that game is always harder than I remember it being XP

Who's the boss of scene 8-5? Is that Dark Demon?

If I didn't get so obsessed with collecting all the secrets during the levels, maybe I'd find it a little bit easier. The 8-5 boss is the "Twin Freaks": The Gradius-like crab-walker, with the screen-flip mechanic.

This is the most nonsensical gaming thing I have ever done. Banjo Kazooie 100% get to Grunty at the end and... stop playing. it wasn't too hard, I just stopped. I was younger then... younger and more stupid. I need to beat this.

Well i wouldn't say i loved it but it really annoyed me that on the last level of the second Trauma Center on the Wii you have to use (and use quickly) the special skill in order to finish the last section.

You do that by drawing a symbol (i don't remember what it was) with the wiimote and the problem was that i royally sucked at trying to draw it. Everytime you fail you have to start the long operation from the beginning and after few tries i got really mad and haven't come back to it. It also completely destroyed my will to play any of the other games in the series.

I think it was dumb idea to force you to use it on the last case because even if you had been playing on easy you never really had to use (eventhough the game did get tough at times)

I'm going to just make a definitive list for myself that I will likely revise as I go through it. I'm going to put the obvious. These are just mostly because I'm one of those people that loves playing video games but I also don't like seeing them come to a close. I will beat large chunks of them and be at the ending and it pains me to know it's coming to a end. I've got to overcome it though, I want to be able to enjoy games without that fear that it's going to end.


- Final fantasy - any(starting with I and tactics advance)
- Sword of Mana/Final Fantasy Adventure
- Golden Sun(I have reached the "end" in both but been unable to beat the final boss)
- Megaman battle Network (any of these, again reached the end not finished, especially in 6 with Gregar version...definitely at the end with this one but never beat it and I've lost all my BN games)
- Donkey kong 64 (and country/land series too...need to track down DKL 1 though)
- Mario - any. I don't think I can honestly say I've ever actually beat a mario game beyond galaxy and that's pushing it too since I haven't achieved every star and have to restart since getting the wii u
- Tales of Phantasia (WIP)
- Spyro Season of Ice
- Fire Emblem (specifically the original GBA release, fates, and awakening)
- Pokemon - any. I've started but just never devoted the time to finishing them
- Tom and Jerry GBC
- Quest for Camelot (I know it's not a great zelda clone but I still want to finish it, got stuck on a cave and just haven't revisited it)
- Zelda (any of these, I've only beat Ocarina with a guide and was really planning on doing a full blown marathon of these before BoTW releases and haven't made much headway on this)
- Boktai (night shift made this one impossible)
- Lego racers(gba)
- Summon Night (gba, I'd love to import and play the ones we didn't get though...)
- Frogger's Adventures (gba...also any frogger)

Phew, man. Uhh...

-Majora's Mask: not that I couldn't or anything, I've just never had access to a copy for long enough to finish it. I seriously thought of getting a 3DS for Majora's Mask 3D.
-Deus Ex: Human Revolution: just haven't got around to it yet. Think its a case of "trophy anxiety", I screwed up my pacifist run and have to revert to a very old save, and I haven't wanted to go back as of yet.
-Dishonored DLCs: Plain lack of interest, despite loving the series. I need to sit down and do it, but anything like this gets hitched up by school due to time commitment and my constant fear of getting lost in the game.
-Harvest Moon 64: you can't really "finish", but I never got to the inspection point of the game. Usually got distracted by other games, or it was a time where I was actually doing a ton of ranch work and didn't feel like touching it.
-Bioshock: I really don't know why on this one. I just haven't, and it drives me a bit nuts.
-Pikmin: My gamecube is at my parents house, and with little time to play it while I'm there, and forgetting what I was aiming for, I end up restarting and going to the same point repeatedly.
