If you tell a painter that you're repainting your dead kid's room does that make the painter an asshole for not offering a discount?
Think about if I went to him as a game collector. Or if I didn't feign ignorance. I bet he wouldve offered differently.
I compare this more to a mechanic trying to replace extra parts on someone clueless about cars. Or people who try to scam money from the elderly.
Now I know in a transaction, the buyer tries to get a low amount, and a seller tries to get as much as someone will pay. Foundation of the system. But he also kept blatantly lying. I have negotations all the time, sometimes my offers are too low, but I still give what I think isn't an insulting and predatory one.
This exercise was a test to see how moral some of these online buyers of games are, and somewhat of a personal social experiment. For the 3 people freaking out over this, completely blows my mind you would defend such a person, especially when no harm is coming to him, the worst being a little bit of wasted time.
And I do have good character and morals when buying shit. Which is why, those who try to prey on others in this hobby are the real people bringing down our reputation. Your logic is so backwards. You know Hobie and I spent $6k collectively on that storage lot? We valued it at about 10-11. But with all the hauling, pricing, posting, negotiating, and shipping, the profit we made was well less than my hourly rate at work. This guy is offering 1k on stuff worth well more than that, and lying about it. So fuck that guy.
