Think about if I went to him as a game collector. Or if I didn't feign ignorance. I bet he wouldve offered differently.

I compare this more to a mechanic trying to replace extra parts on someone clueless about cars. Or people who try to scam money from the elderly.

Now I know in a transaction, the buyer tries to get a low amount, and a seller tries to get as much as someone will pay. Foundation of the system. But he also kept blatantly lying. I have negotations all the time, sometimes my offers are too low, but I still give what I think isn't an insulting and predatory one.

This exercise was a test to see how moral some of these online buyers of games are, and somewhat of a personal social experiment. For the 3 people freaking out over this, completely blows my mind you would defend such a person, especially when no harm is coming to him, the worst being a little bit of wasted time.

And I do have good character and morals when buying shit. Which is why, those who try to prey on others in this hobby are the real people bringing down our reputation. Your logic is so backwards. You know Hobie and I spent $6k collectively on that storage lot? We valued it at about 10-11. But with all the hauling, pricing, posting, negotiating, and shipping, the profit we made was well less than my hourly rate at work. This guy is offering 1k on stuff worth well more than that, and lying about it. So fuck that guy.

You should bring a bunch of really shitty games to a storage locker and meet up with him there. Tell him this is all that is left after you sold the rest away at a yard sale for $5 each. Then act all weird and shifty when he spurns your sexual advances.

Not a single person said the reseller should have offered a discount because of a dead child.

Then how does the dead kid factor into your objection to the reseller?

Expressing sympathy and not being a shitty person by lying and attempting to rip off someone not good enough for you? Image

So you don't like he didn't offer empty platitudes and engaged in his standard business practice. He's not taking advance of a grieving father, he's just lowballing a guy who contacted him, just like he would with anyone else.

Oh, sorry, I didn't realize that lying and deliberately misleading someone was standard business practices for you.

Some folks on both sides of this argument are taking this a little too seriously. Either troll the reseller or move on. Going back and forth bickering over this silly squabble is petty.

I'm not concerned who is right or who is wrong; I just want this to go back to being amusing.

They are for Craigslist resellers. I don't see what part of this guy is novel.

I can agree to this. And I know Popo to be a good person to do dealings with. I still think his intent was more predatory once he realized the person didn't know what they had as opposed to saying I am parting with my collection or something.
