Speaking personally, the "worst" games for me are also the most disappointing. In other words, they're the games that were "almost good" and/or they were preceded by really good games and/or the developers "should have known better" and so on.

I mean, I think a game like Uncharted isn't much fun. But I also realize it simply isn't "my thing." I can coexist with these types of games and they don't inspire feelings of any kind in me.

But something like Final Fantasy XIII sends me into a rage. It's a terrible entry in both a genre and series that I typically (okay, sometimes) enjoy.

Kusoge RPGs like Secret of the Stars and Hoshi wo Miru Hito amuse me more than they frustrate me.

Ding ding, this guy gets it.

That's why I find Final Fantasy X a worse JRPG than say Orphen: Scion of Sorcery. Square had the money to hire the best professionals in the industry to write a decent plot and produce character designs that weren't apogees of bad fashion. Instead grandfathered nepotism ran rampant and we got what we did. All those great graphics don't mean much to someone like myself who finds characters like Tidus and Wakka absolutely abnoxious.

I plan to give the game another go someday though. Maybe I'll have a change of heart who knows. But when I look at all the amazing Atlus JRPGs on the same system I still haven't played, it's hard to be in a hurry to go back to kickin' around a blitzball.

So I see that game informer gave Tao: Curse of the Demon Seal on the Nintendo DS a 2/10. Might be the worst RPG ever. I'm playing it right now so I guess I'll see pretty soon.

Ah yes, the Azure Dreams sequel. Not a great game.

Yeah, it's pretty crappy. And I don't want to waste anymore time on it. I'd rather go play Revenant Wings or something that's at least half-way decent haha.

Well, I've played Resonance of Fate, as well as all the Idea Factory tosh like Cross Edge, Record of Agarest War, Hyperdimension Neptunia and various others and I gotta be honest, I did enjoy most of them. I mean, not for long periods of time, and it's more or less the same sort of 'enjoy' you get from watching 'The Room' or an Ed Wood film where it's obviously, painfully bad, but it at least has some sort of charm to it that keeps it from being totally despicable.

The worst JRPG to me, personally, is Quest 64. I know, a lot of people will always be like "Oh, it's not that bad..." and some even come right out and say they loved it, but as a kid, I stuck with Nintendo because the NES and SNES were JRPG juggernauts. So I got an N64 thinking there'd be some JRPGs too. So I waited, and waited, and waited. (Luckily FF7 came out on PC only a few months after the PS1 and there were plenty of PC RPGs, so I wasn't completely starved) Finally this comes out and... it just bores the hell out of me. Everything looks so dull. The battle system is cumbersome, long and boring. Almost every spell you learn is just a derivative of an older one. The plot is NES thin. Leveling up stats is painful. The characters are... well, there pretty much aren't any.

At least Idea Factory games have some sort of an identity to them.

Well Trinity Universe was at least playable (bad game still) while listening to youtube while playing but my god was the original Hyper Dimension pain. Kudos for you to be able to get enjoyment out of it but to me it was one of the most torturous experiences i had with a game and i only managed to last until halfway.

I did still end up trying the vita version. Like Trinity Universe it's something that you give something to do while listening to youtube but it's still a bad game. Nothing but grinding and i couldn't go on watching the cutscenes after 2 hours.

Yeah I can't deal with most of that otaku fodder. I actually dig the first Neptunia, but then the series took a dump pretty fast.
