Well a huge portion of games come from Japan and feminism is a lot less stronger there than it is in North America and North Europe (although it still is far from the Islamic world). And on top of that there's the whole culture of cute/moe thing, with game developers designing their characters for the largest, most important consumer group, otakus.

^Solving sexism isn't about a court mandate. It's about fixing a perception by one sex of the other as objects, or the lesser. Addressing sexism in any medium isn't about, "taking it to the man." It's about striking the root cause, which mostly entails reevaluating deeply rooted perceptions of gender roles, and the place of each (all) gender(s) in society.

And you're going to accomplish this by discussing it in an online forum for retro video games? Please. Take it to sociology class. If you're looking to address "the root cause" for gender inequality and sexism, you're definitely looking in the wrong place.
