There was a patch that fixed most, if not all, of those major bugs in the Silent Hill HD Collection.
And the new voice actor's are absolutely no reason to avoid the game, as they are 100% completely optional. The game let's you choose between the original voice work and the new voices when you start a new game. And you don't even need a patch for that.
Try doing a quick Google search next time.
What PS3 games need to be looked at?

I gotta be honest ... that comment amount Haze being worth it for $5 or under ... no it's not. That game is trash. I actually like that developer, but that game is just awful.
Brink on the other hand, I'd argue with. I think it's just the wrong audience nit picking the game. It's very Enemy Territory oriented and arguably plays much nicer on PC. That and ... no one plays it online on PS3 ... so ... you'd be playing bots ... not really a great choice, then.
Uncharted 1-3. I know ... I'm that guy, I guess. Everyone praises Uncharted, but they really are that good. I remember when the first one came out ... people railed that game. People hated it. Then 2 came out and everyone oozed out of their pants. It's a legitimate response. But the series as a whole are some of the best games I've played. It might be overselling it somewhat, but I would argue that Uncharted 2 is at a Super Metroid level of great. I love those games.
Folklore is worth a look, it's being talked about in the hidden gems thread too.
Infamous is pretty good. Personally, I liked it a lot ... but I could see people having some issues with a lot of what it does too. I'd say check it out. The sequel feels fundamentally different, though. I haven't made my way through it, so I can't really comment on it.
I agree with 3D Dot Game Heroes, it's pretty awesome.
Heavy Rain is very good.
And if we're not restricted to platform exclusives ... I will gush about Sleeping Dogs until the world ends. I loved that game endlessly. I played it on PC, but you should experience it wherever you can. It is phenomenal. I think some people thought it wasn't too great for various reasons, like scope of the game, or even focus of the story ... I would argue those people have their eyes shut and are using narrow vision to look at what was being done there.
Vanquish rocks. That game is also awesome. I would use the terms "criminally ignored" on that one.

The first Uncharted is average at best, especially after the time that passed since it first came out.

Re: What PS3 games need to be looked at?
I got Uncharted 2 for Christmas when it was new and still ended up thinking it was lame. Last year, I played Uncharted 3 in one sitting with a friend. It seemed to be exactly the same as the second installment. There were a few cool puzzles, but for the most part I didn't enjoy it.
For me, it was a game that tried really hard to look cool, but actually played itself. Even on the hard difficulties, my only deaths were from rockets that came out of nowhere or Drake irrationally grabbing every surface he came within reach of.
Vanquish is in another league. It's the same kind of streamlined, linear shooter with an emphasis on cover, but on the higher difficulties the gameplay is pretty awesome. Balancing your energy use with your need to rocket around at ridiculous speeds can get intense, especially since a red grunt can kill you when you're not careful.

Those games definitely don't play themselves. They're extremely linear, sure, and don't usually involve much thinking...but they do require player interaction. The cinematic experience they offer is basically the point. If it's not your cup of tea, then that's all well and good, but they're exemplary titles for their particular subgenre.Valkyrie-Favor wrote: For me, it was a game that tried really hard to look cool, but actually played itself. That said, I think the series (so far) peaked with Among Thieves.

I'll definitely agree that the second one was the best.

My favorite exclusives would probably have to be the Infamous and Uncharted series both of those were great. Right now my PS3 collection isn't to large though
.
Can't wait for the PS4 to come out though should see a nice influx of used PS3 games coming into the pawn shops and flea markets during the transition period.

Loved Vanquish. My only complaint was it was too short. Also getting the platinum on that game takes SKILL. I just could never do that last wave on the last challenge (Challenge 6 IIRC).Valkyrie-Favor wrote: Vanquish is in another league. That's only for SH2. SH3 is new voices only.MrEco wrote:The game let's you choose between the original voice work and the new voices when you start a new game. And you don't even need a patch for that.
