Though to be fair things improved with the 16-bit generation. Only Sonic 1 was like that (the others run the same, though with black boarders which personally I never minded), and the DKC games run the same regardless of region (probably had a thing to do with Rare being British).


Though I have to say, for me the crippled version of Sonic 1 will always be my favorite . Childhood nostalgia can't be beat. Plus the slower "remix" of green hill zone music is sweet.

That Sonic one wasn't so bad, but the Castlevania... yikes .

Sure you do. It is in no way related to the other games in the series. It's basically a remake of the original game, except with some of the best graphics and music for the SNES and flawless controls.

Super Castlevania IV is a stand out phenom. It's one of my favorite, most enjoyable, most re-playable games I've had the privilege to play. The music, the tone, the graphics, the gameplay...all perfect.

But the best part is that it is fun.

It's essentially a retelling of the story in the first game. It's a 'remake' in a similar sense that Star Fox 64 could be considered a remake of the original Star Fox.

Imo Castlevania 4 is an amazing game, but it's true that I find it very very very different compared to the first one, but in such a way that most people don't really think about it
