Too much Lego?

It's quite an observation. In trying to appeal to the manchild Lego has lost sight of their true roots. Can't say I blame them though; parents are moving to digital entertainment more and more and without all this licensing and nerd-focused marketing Lego might have filed for bankruptcy years ago.

Come on, would we all be gushing over Mega Blocks in a different world?

Re: Too much Lego?
My only issue is when people call them "legos". The correct term is LEGO peices. If I ever hear that again I'M GONNA STAB YOU IN THE KIDNEYS AND PUNCH YOU IN THE BLOOD AND AAAAAAAAAGGGHHHHH!

Re: Too much Lego?
Man, uh.....Legos?
I WAS ALL ABOUT THAT SHIT SON ALL DAY EVERY DAY, LIKE WHAT!#$%&)____
Seriously, back in the day, my other obsession, besides video games, was Legos. I got them as a kid, I had my dad buy sets for me, and all that jazz. I was into building the sets because I could never create anything good on my own (there's an amusing picture I took where I tried to build a Bart Simpson out of Legos and it looks absolutely nothing like Bart Simpson, but it's funny because 9 year old me thought it was close enough).
Pirate, Castle, Town, Space, Underwater, hell I even did Technic sets when I got older (although that phase lasted pretty short because I was starting to grow out of Legos by then and well, by 97 I was no longer a Lego fiend anymore). The odd thing is, I never really "got rid" of my Legos. I actually still have the majority of the sets I had as a kid, but they're in a big plastic tub in the rafters in my family's garage, mostly taken apart and such.
However, I have these sets still intact on top of my bookcase, except with a lot more dust (and in the case of the ship, I am mysteriously missing a 4th cannon):

Of course my new thing with Legos now is building 8 bit NES sprites out of Legos. I have 2 completed and one about 90% finished (missing a few bricks I sadly do not have). I may post a picture later on in this thread. Actually if anyone remembers, I made the thread about video game box storage and the picture I had included a Lego NES controller I made. Well, that got (mostly) sacrificed to create my 90% unfinished Lego project, but I can't say what it is until it's finished....
So yeah, Legos rule.

Re: Too much Lego?
Well since everyone is sharing this was my first Lego set:

Strangle enough I was the only kid I remember having Legos, and that is because I bought them when I lived in the states.
Over here Playmobil was always much bigger, though imo Lego is better because of all the opportunities to create your own stuff.

I've never liked Playmobil. It's essentially uglier, glued-together LEGO.ZeroAX wrote:Over here Playmobil was always much bigger, though imo Lego is better because of all the opportunities to create your own stuff.
I used to be so obsessed with those things. There has been LEGO in my house as far as I remember, especially the Star Wars ones, because that was my other obsession. I still have multiple huge containers both up and downstairs. I miss Bionicle.

These are my first LEGO sets:

And this was the castle set I had. I was annoyed that my horses had to be made and not as cool as the ones that were molded to be horses

Re: Too much Lego?
Did anyone else hate any kind of hairstyle? For me it was either a hat or bald. I think the only hair style I left on was the spiky hair for the lead alpha squad guy. Aquazone was the first set I really got into & then Alpha Team.
I would have loved to have some of the licensed stuff when i was a kid. Once the star wars legos came out they were always the centerpiece in my playing. I had an all black lego head & I cut the head off of a black spear to make a black lightsaber. My sith was completely black except for the lightsaber hilt. He was awesome.
I loved the Bionicles too. I had 5 or 6. I remember going online to read about the characters & the storyline. So cool!
