I think that's the attitude that keeps Nintendo rolling in sales, when in actual fact, the amount of "kickass" first party stuff from them has been relatively slim pickings. Almost all of their titles are farmed out to other developers, with varying results in quality. Only the stuff kept strictly in-house (i.e. the major mario titles) still has that hint of true Nintendo quality -- and of course, the only reason that still exists is because their major talents have never left them.
When it comes to the competition, (the PSV specifically) they are offering real quality titles (in the vein of Modnation, Uncharted, LBP..) that while not first party Nintendo, are serious competition and really fantastic games. For someone that's tired of Nintendo taking too long to adapt to a changing market, (in terms of their core software, obviously not the hardware where they are driving change) the titles I see being offered on the PSV are really interesting. They're different. I haven't played them before. One of Nintendo's most anticipated titles is Super Mario 3DS -- where after 23 years we finally see the return of the Tanooki suit.
Yeah, that's exciting.

I can't wait to see the full spectrum of games coming for the PSV, because the possibilities for control schemes and game types are interesting. The 3DS is simply the same DS I've already played on for years, with an analogue nub and beefed up graphics. As the announcements for 3DS games continue, I can't help but look and think "I've played this before, haven't I?" As the announcements for PSV games continue I think "Hmm, that's interesting, show me more."
