All I can think of is how brutally expensive these new controllers will be.
360 and PS3 controllers are already 50 to 60 bucks, which is unreal.

That is the price of a game, how is that unreal.CFFJR wrote:All I can think of is how brutally expensive these new controllers will be.

I would assume there will be a budget controller, with the same form factor but no screen.

What was screwed up with Ghost Trick? Was planning on buying the game when I've got the cash...equalsign wrote:...At least with so much warning publishers (is anyone publishing Wii games anymore?) and games might not get as badly screwed (Ghost Trick)....
Re: Nintendo Wii 2 Codenamed 'Project Cafe'
I'm saying its too expensive. I know why they do it, since these controllers now are full of so many different things, between the lights and the rumble and the motion sensing and the wireless/bluetooth and blah blah blah. One controller being equal to the price of one new game strikes me as too expensive. It seems you disagree, which is fine, I won't argue about it, but I think its too much.BlackDS wrote:That is the price of a game, how is that unreal.CFFJR wrote:All I can think of is how brutally expensive these new controllers will be.

As for a budget controller, maybe, but I don't really think so. I can see Nintendo making the use of the controller screen a requirement for development.
Even if they didn't, I imagine every 1st party Nintendo game will use the screen extensively, which would make a budget controller without the screen only useful about half the time.

Re: Nintendo Wii 2 Codenamed 'Project Cafe'
I think he means that Ghost Trick's sales were eaten alive by the 3DS, and that games that come out at the end of a hardware lifespan tend to get poor sales because of an anticipation for the upcoming system. By warning publishers ahead of time they can cancel or move upcoming and unannounced projects to the new system with minimized losses.zerexerez wrote:What was screwed up with Ghost Trick? I bought the game new for my girlfriend a couple weeks after release. She beat it and seems to think it was "awesome," so I'd say you shouldn't hesitate to buy it when you've got the money. Gotta give Capcom some love.

I guess, but can't you already do that with the DS? If I'm playing Mario Kart or something on my home console I don't want to be looking down at a tiny screen when I have a large wide screen HDTV. I can see it having some use like with the Dreamcast VMU you could use it to call plays in NFL 2k series and your opponent wouldn't able to see what formation you were looking at, but if I want to play a game on a tiny screen in my hands then I'll get a hand held system, not a home console.

This new controller would go in the complete opposite direction of what they did with the Wii - it is far to complicated for nongamers. Hopefully, if this is true and everything is bluetooth, they will say that you can use your Wiimote and accessories on the console. Meaning you only have to upgrade to the fancy controller if you want to.

From what it looks like, imagine your split screen multiplayer, instead of showing on the TV, would show on your controller. And maybe the TV would have a 5th "action cam" viewpoint for spectators. If you were playing single player you'd have the option of playing on the TV, but for multiplayer the action is on your controller.the King wrote:Inazuma wrote:This could end up being amazing for local multiplayer.

This controller would also be great for football in choosing a play, and Pokemon when choosing a move.
Add a DS/3DS slot to the controller so you can play head to head Pokemon on your TV without having to do B.S. downloading and stuff. Then you can not only not be able to check your opponent's moves, but you can't see their Pokemon either.

Not to sound nitpicky, but if you add a DS/3DS slot you're looking at... well... a DS/3DS system, but with a bigger screen. I don't feel like pushing out 300 USD for a controller
