It seems weird for them to take the GBA link bonuses out... but the bonuses as far as I know aren't very game-impacting. I was leaning towards the Trilogy myself.

Most of the link bonuses are there, but have to be unlocked by alternate means. There's basically an achievement system. Points you earn through achievements can be spent to unlock extras.optmusprimenumber wrote:It seems weird for them to take the GBA link bonuses out... but the bonuses as far as I know aren't very game-impacting. If you found 1 too clunky then you won't be much of a fan of II on the GBA. It's a bigger maze and the large Samus sprite tends to get you nailed by enemies more often due to reduced visibility. And the map feature didn't come about until Super, so it's very easy to get lost trying to track down the last metroid in a given area. At least with 1 if you're willing to look up the route it's actually super easy to beat the game (very simple path).optmusprimenumber wrote:I'd like to play II but I'm not sure if that will suffer the same opinion with me as the first or not. I'm hoping that 2 remake gets finished and supports a gamepad. After seeing some of the tech demos for it, with the quick steps over short obstacles and whatnot, it's looking like a really fun and sleek Metroid experience.

Does that mean it's weird that I find Metroid II considerably easier to navigate and complete than the original?MrPopo wrote:If you found 1 too clunky then you won't be much of a fan of II on the GBA. I feel bad, I am about 2/3 - 3/4 of the way through PRIME and i have zero desire to go any further. Too boring. I love the soundtracks to the game though.

Gee, I must be the only one here that loves the first game. I played through it again not too long ago and it's still a pretty fun game. I love the atmosphere of the first one too. The second game I'm not too crazy about, but I recently started playing it again and I think I'm starting to "get it" this time around.
Super Metroid is one of the most godly games around, and the two GBA games don't mess around either. I haven't played much of the 3D games though, only a bit of Prime 2 and that's been it so far.

The first game was awesome, but I can see how it'd be very hard for new people to get into. Of course, if you're emulating you can use this:ApolloBoy wrote:Gee, I must be the only one here that loves the first game. I really like all of the 2D Metroids. I will say, though, that while I really like the original on the NES, I have a hard time playing the GBA version they included in Zero Mission. Maybe it's just the size of the D-pad or something, but I found the controls a little harder to manage.ApolloBoy wrote:Gee, I must be the only one here that loves the first game. I do love the original Metroid. I just love all the other ones more. Well, all of them except for MP: Hunters.ApolloBoy wrote:Gee, I must be the only one here that loves the first game.
