This. With bells on. That game frustrated the fuck out of me. Max Payne 2 is even worse for the stupid drugged out dream sequences that last FOREVER.

Didn't have any trouble walking on the lines with mouse aiming. That's all I'm saying.

Good topic!

The Ninja
Deserves love for being fun overhead ninja action. Deserves hate for being freaking hard.

Metal Gear Sold 2 and beyond
Several years ago I beat MGS1 and had a great time with it. Somehow I can't replicate this with the more recent entries, because somehow, I won't get anything done in these.

Persona 3 FES
I love it because its unique gameplay and design, but it pisses me off for lasting way more than 30-40 hours.

Front Mission 3
Some great mecha tuning/battling action. Unfortunately, there are so many missions that are all about the same that I always have to quit playing after a few hours because it bores me.

Ghost in the shell
Thought this was the greates action title for the Playstation 1. That is, before I reached Mission 3 and failed dozens of time in beating it.

Castlevania
I did not expect much when I played this the first time, but was instantly amazed by the music, style and atmosphere that this game realizes on limited 8-bit hardware. What I also didn't expect: I would not get past the Frankenstein monster boss. Ever.

Final Fantasy V
This is one of my favourite titles in the series. After beating it several times on an emulator, I got this for the GBA. Now I'm at the final world and can't even get to the next dungeon without being killed in world map random battles.

Solar Striker
My first shmup, a simple one at that, but still good. I used to fail at the boss in the fourth level. When I tried this game again recently, I could not even make it to the boss in level 3.

Battletoads in Battlemaniacs
I really love the gameplay, graphics and music. Probably one of the technically most amazing games on the good old SNES. Why it pisses me off? Hint: "hover bike".

Run Saber
A perfect Strider clone. Appears to be easy, but somehow, even in easy setting and with maximum lives, I fail at the later stages.

Anyone else here that aims to get his backlog beaten? Games like these are a nightmare for every backloggery user. You cannot beat them, but you also won't give them away.

Wow - I just got Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the PS3, just because my GameStop actually had the retail version in stock and I wanted to get it just because it was the first time I saw a retail version of MvC2 on PS3.

I've only played a few battles thus far, and it has been nothing but frustration. The CPU does nothing but block the whole damn time. Practically every victory - or loss - has been a time out. Battles drag on for sooo long.

And, of course, all of my favorite characters are bottom-tier, so online play is just an absolute joy.

I seem to remember that I set the health to 50% or something in the Dreamcast version - perhaps that's why things are dragging on so much longer than I remember.

Fire Pro Wrestling Returns.

I just got it and it messes with my head because the only wrestling game I've really played was the NES Pro Wrestling, which required massive amounts of button mashing in every grapple. Fire Pro Wrestling requires a single, well timed button press. And since the graphics aren't much better than the NES Pro Wrestling ( ) I get confused. It doesn't help that your character becomes less effective and weaker the more he gets pummeled from your screw ups.

Oh, wow, Solar Striker! I've never actually encountered another person mentioning that game before.

I also could never get past the level 4 boss, except when I finally resorted to using my brother's game genie. It was a lot of fun, and very playable right up until that point.

Robotron.

I love that game but I always get stuck at a wave and can't progress any further.

Magical Drop

It's simply so fast I get mentally exhausted after a while

Beatmania IIDX

The difficulty curve is absurd but I'm stuck in a difficulty WALL and I can't improve.

Is that a disc or just a code in a box?

Just a code in a box, unfortunately. I feel ripped off - I had heard the retail version included an instruction manual with illustrations by Udon, but that was not the case. All I got was a PS3 case with MvC2 art on it, and a free one month subscription to some Marvel thing (whoop-de-fucking-do).

Hell, with my GameStop employee discount, I even got it for less than everybody else who bought it online ($12), and I still feel ripped off.

Love it so much but it becomes very frustrating at times especially when the games knows you need just one more rare piece of a monster to make your armor and it just never gives it to you until you kill 20 more.
