Mine is pretty simple. I have played games for the majority of my life. I started from a young age and I still make time for them now(though not as much lately as I used to). I expect to still game in some capacity in the coming years as well. I consider myself fortunate in that I have experienced most of the game industry's growth as I have grown myself because it's such a young medium. It's not like being a twenty something movie fan and knowing that movies have been around LONG before you were born.

considering my grandfather came here in 1914, just like a good deal of many different Europeans... I'm gonna guess yes.

I'm German, just after slavery, just before the Holocaust... I'm in the clear!

My friend's brother tried to grow a beard once, but it grew it patches and looked awkward and he refused to shave it. We used to always to say he got hit by a hair grenade and that he had beard shrapnel in his face. I then decided to start using Flak Beard as my user name.

I couldn't imagine where your name came from; I thought it was somewhat random, but now I see it is completely reasonable!

Great thread, some real interesting stories. I always love these threads because for me it always adds more depth to what the people I've been talking to are actually about. More so than a picture thread I think.

Anyway, my name is fairly self explanatory I think. It originates from when I started working in this pub where I met my wife, or at least the girl that would become my wife. She also worked there along with another Paul with spikey hair, which became confusing since the 3 of us were the whole workforce so she quickly started to distinguish us be the kind of hair that we have and it stuck. The last time I googled my username I found another curlypaul who like lonely hearts sites and the curlypaul on ebay is someone who doesnt like to pay for her shoes. Obviously neither of these people are me

I think it was 1999 so I was 7 years old and my friends were using AIM so I decided to join them. Couldn't be bothered to think of a name so just went with dude which wasn't accepted since someone else had taken it. I added x, didn't work, so I added 77, accepted! 9 years later and I still use the same username for just about everything.

Holy crap, you just made like 80 of us feel really old when we really shouldn't. When I was 7 it was the 80's and the 16-bit era wasn't starting until the following year when I'd get my Sega Genesis on my 8th bday.

It's cool knowing that there are guys out there who weren't even around when retro systems were big, and yet they still love and play them!

...
and WHY are there so many /b-tards here? I hate you.
