ah, sorry dood! :(

-------------------

put some more time into SOTN last night. More and more, I'm starting to get why it has such a following. Now, I did say that I prefer my Castlevanias (and their ilk) to be linear rather than open-world. This just comes down to my own life really. When I sit down to play a game, I usually have an hour or two. So I'd rather be making progress, or know what my goal is than to have to just wander around aimlessly for that time. So with that said, yeah. I'm using a map. And I'm not against checking walkthroughs to find out where I want to head next. Big whoop. You wanna fight about it?

So with that in mind, the game starts to get a bit more linear in feel. If I kind of know where I'm going, then it feels more like "levels." Which makes it pretty damn comfortable for me. I've leveled myself up to lvl 16 and I just learned how to double-jump. Grinding was a revelation though, haha. At first I didn't really realize how important grinding was. But after dying enough times on the walk to that bird-boss, I realized how under-powered I was. Now I'm sort of getting the hang of everything. Good stuff!

I also threw in Sonic Adventure and played three or four levels of that. I have mixed feelings there. There's more movies to watch than their is game to play so far. And I'm not a fan of the whole hub thing... just throw me into the next level I need to play and I'll play it! But beyond that, the 3D levels are really pretty gorgeous. The speed is there. It seems fun enough, though I'm still pretty early on. (I just beat the first boss battle against Robotnik).

Most Metroidvania games are pretty linear and directed under the surface.

Starting a little bit late this year, but since it's still the first week of "summer" for me (Graduated from high school last week) I can start yet again! Most of mine are either titles that I didn't get to last time or ones I want to play, regardless if they are "classics" or not. In no particular order:

1. Pokemon HeartGold (Ds)
2. Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
3. Shadow of the Colossus (Ps2)
4. Super Castlevania IV (Snes)
5. Chrono Trigger (Snes)
6. Bastion (Pc)
7. Star Wars Rouge Squadron (N64)
8. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (Ds)
9. *Coming Soon*
10. *Coming Soon*

School's out so the summer challenge begins!

Started Final Fantasy Adventure today. Only played about 45 minutes, seems decent so far. I definitely need to find some instructions online as I've already screwed a few things up. I got a mattock which I thought was a weapon I could use infinitely. Turns out it's an item and I wasted it trying to whack enemies with it. I reset the game because I thought I was stuck, but I later found out you can buy more at shops. I did eventually find a new weapon: a battle ax. It's powerful but slow. I'm digging the game, maybe I'll shoot for 2 hours play time tomorrow.

And as most people know, this is a Seiken Densetsu (Mana series) game, not a true Final Fantasy title. Did a little reading on Wikipedia and I now realize I own every Mana title except for Heroes of Mana. Weird, I wasn't even trying to consciously collect them all or anything. Maybe I'll check out Heroes someday.

Found it

I am now in the Underworld and have finished off the Dwarf Castle.

Couple thoughts:
1. Bye Cid *waves*
2. And Golbez was.... Really easy, actually. Is he supposed to be that easy? I mean, sure, he took out everyone except Cecil, but then Rydia showed up and two Titian summons later *BAM* Bye, bye Golbez.

Well, all except his arm. That was a little creepy. I mean, I like having Rydia back, but yeah. Creepy :?
Now it's off to Babel.

Finished rayman origins today. Had I have known how good it was I would of played it alot sooner. Possibly my favourite platformer I have ever played. started on Bioshock but it's not really my thing. I hate that dying has no consequences and the you can just keep dying and continuing the combat. I think I'll replace that one.. Anyone playing any of the gamecube resident evil games? im considering putting either 1, 2, 3 or zero on my list..

my list as it stands

1. Metal gear solid 4 ps3 finished
2. Cursed mountain wii finished
3. Rayman origins wii finished
4. Tomb raider anniversary ps2
5. Ico ps3
6. Super mario bros snes
7. Sly racoon ps2
8. Excite bike nes
9. Fantavision ps2
10. ???

Making some good progress in SOTN. I can turn into mist and a bat now. I'm stuck on a boss fight against Olrox though. His first form is a breeze, but his second form is a jerk.

I'm interested in playing this one alongside you at some point. I still need to finish off Resident Evil 4 and Grim Fandango first though.
