Ah, you finished it! Nice job!

Curious to see what you thought of it.

and about half of it wouldn't pass my "is this really a classic?" test.

...but I am not doing that this year so...

Well, I am totally done with Dracula X now. I've gone through all levels, beaten all bosses, gotten the best and worst endings, etc. I have no desire to ever play that game again. It just feels off to me.

I was considering what to start up last night for my next game, but GOG was either undergoing maintenance or under heavy strain from the Witcher 3 release, so I was unable to install more games. I did have System Shock 2 installed, so I messed with the tutorial a bit and modified my control scheme, but since folks have recommended a few graphical mods, I wanted to look into those before giving it a proper playthrough.

So I guess I should go ahead and install Indiana Jones and Descent, just in case this happens again. I still intend to hold off on MK2 until June when Together Retro looks at Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Some of you guys want me to do Lost Levels now, I know, but after Dracula X, I really don't want to play a platformer.

Ah, decisions, decisions.

Nah, don't bother with that. You are a classy gamer who can appreciate graphics for their time, so this is an issue that is irrelevant. Play the game the way the developers intended man, and have a ton of fun.

I will be satisfied just to have him participate. We can grill the other members with the "is this really a classic?" test.

I've never played either of those games, but if I had, I would probably agree with you.

Well, in that case I suppose I will go ahead and give it a shot as is. I modified the controls a bit to my liking and went through some of the character creation stuff, though choosing between Navy, Marines, and PsiOps is a tough choice. I like how creation goes beyond that to explore my career in those areas. I picked Navy, because based on the VR training experience, I'm gonna need all the help I can get in hacking computers. I had no idea what the hell I was doing.

The only mod I would suggest is to get the resolution correct to your monitor.

Hacking seems far more complicated than it is. Essentially all you do is start clicking until you get three highlighted nodes in a row. Black nodes block your ability to do it. It seems to be fairly random, so you can start hacking a device and it turns out it's impossible to get three in a row. In that case you exit and start again.
